Ancient and Medieval History Office Hours, 2/24

Methos is trying to come up with clever ideas for a class project for Western Civ. So far... he's got nothing.

In a wastecan beside his desk is the photocopied journal he's been working on on-and-off for the last few months. Also the notebook he's been translating it into. Also about fifteen copies of a letter to the Watchers about why he wasn't going to complete the translation for them.

He's very interruptable.

He's making paper airplanes of the ditched letters to the Watchers.

Now he's trying to figure out if he can stage a debate-your-religion-around-the-Mediterranean as a Western Civ project. Possibly not the best idea ever. Particularly since they're going to be touching on the Crusades on and off for the next couple of weeks, from various perspectives.

He's doing nothing. Really.

He's working hard. No, really.

With Janet and Liz. If they need to ask him anything. Or riffle through his trashcan. Or something.

In case CJ comes in. She can come any time she wants.

Just in case we need an OOC thread.

I'm about to tag in, but I'm in a post-lunch coma, so don't expect quick responses. :)

Janet waved. "Why did we decide to hold these on a Friday during seventh period?" she asked.

...of course, he's working hard in Humanities Classroom #2, bottling the beer that the detentionees made last Saturday (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/654064.html?thread=31116272#t31116272). He's not in his office, but you can hear him a couple of rooms down.

"Because we're neither smart nor wise?" Methos chuckles. "Want a bottle of home-brewed beer? It's young and raw, but it was made right on the premises."

Fooooooooooooooooooooood.

"You have no idea how much I need a drink right now," said Janet gratefully. "When did you start a brewery on school grounds?"

"Last Saturday, when I ran detention. Logan Echolls and Boone Carlisle made it. Hold on, it's in the ~~Emo Closet~~ supply closet in the classroom." Methos leaves the office briefly to go get beer.

"You had underage students make alcoholic beverages on school ground during school-sponsored punishment?" asked Janet. "That's great."

"Well... technically, it wasn't alcoholic when they made it," Methos points out. "It takes thirty minutes to a half an hour for the sugar and the yeast to interact enough to formulate alcohol." He hands her one of the bottles. "So why do you need a drink? Or would you rather not say?"

"Hey," Elizabeth collapsed into a chair.

Methos looks at her sympathetically. "Rough week?"

"Good point," said Janet. "The difference is technical enough for me." She took the bottle and took a very long drink. "My boyfriend is an idiot and my roommate's a creep."

"Have some beer," said Janet, holding her bottle out to Liz.

"I've had worse," Elizabeth replies, managing a smile.

Elizabeth took the bottle, looked at it, and shrugging, took a mouthful anyway. "Thanks."

*blinks at line on CJ thread*

Really grubby, Dr. Pierson.

"Any time," said Janet, smiling ruefully. "Did you spend the night with Charlie last night?"

As in, "OMG DIRTY!"? Only if you have a dirty mind.

Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah," she said. "I was seeing if different surroundings and sharing a bed affected my dreams at all."

"Do you want me to rough up Daniel for you? I'd offer to do the same for your roommate, but I don't know who you room with." Methos takes a drink.

A little soap, a little water-- it's only grubby! Not actually DIRTY!?

It's just that I know you that makes me think that.

"Did it work?" asked Janet. She smiled wryly at Liz. "And here I just thought you wanted to get away from our roommate."

"Slight difference, but not enough," Elizabeth sighed. "And yes, that was another considering factor. Two birds with one stone."

"You could either rough up Marty Blank or Jack O'Neill," said Janet. "But I don't think it would be a good idea for you to just suddenly decide to beat up a student. Do you know if your friend Duncan has them in either of his classes? Maybe you could ask him to do it instead."

Janet grinned at the idea of Methos roughing up Daniel. "Daniel's a little tougher than he looks," she said. "He works out."

"He spent the night with Angela last night," said Janet. "Which was smart of him. I was having revenge fantasies."

"Maybe we'll be lucky and he'll spend tonight there as well?"

Methos tsks. "You underestimate my ingenuity. First you say I can't brew beer, and now I can't beat up someone who's bothering a friend?" He takes another sip.

"If he doesn't, he might want to watch out," muttered Janet. "I've got a half-written e-mail to Uncle George that I'm just waiting to send."

"That's true, you have resources," said Janet. "I just don't want you to get in trouble. I also have moral compunctions against harming others. Most of the time." She frowned at him. "Though Marty decided he wanted to run a background check on me and I found out about it yesterday. I'm deeply unhappy with him."

"If I have to, I'm going to be sending one to Pr... um, Mr. Hayes," Elizabeth replied in equally low tones.

Methos isn't listening.

Much.

"Mr. Hayes was a good principal," said Janet, noticing Methos look like he was trying not to eavesdrop.

Which, of course, meant he was eavesdropping almost completely shamelessly.

On her way to get Fred and Ginger out of her office and take them to her new place, she pokes her head in.

"Hey, Adam."

"He was, yes," Elizabeth agreed, also noticing Methos'. "I don't know what he'd be able to do, but considering it's technically his fault that I'm here in the first place, I thought that ranting at him would be theraputic."

"Very much so," agreed Janet. "I have another nasty letter for Mackenzie sitting on my hard drive."

"Ooh, nasty letters to Mackenzie are always fun," Elizabeth nodded, cheering up ever so slightly.

"Want to send one with mine?" asked Janet.

Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, I think I will. I'll write one tomorrow."

Janet was the last one out the door. That was what happened when you were clumsy enough to drop your backpack and spill your books on the floor. As she stood, she noticed that journal and the translation notebook sitting in the trash.

Well. That was interesting. She quickly grabbed the notebook and the journal and shoved it in her backpack with everything else.
