These United States [Wednesday, June 4, 2014]
Today Josh was wearing a kickin' pair of mouse ears on his head. He was still also wearing a tie because Josh, but at least he was trying to get into the spirit of the place he'd taken the class?
It was baby steps for Josh--he wasn't that great at having fun.
"Welcome to EPCOT Center," he said, pointing to the giant golf ball...thing...in the center of the park. "Because this is still school and this stuff should be educational and if you wanted to go on rollercoasters, you should've signed up for Riley's class. EPCOT is an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow; a Utopian city of the future planned by Walt Disney, the man who brought you most of the definitive childhood cartoons and costume and toy tie-ins for the last seventy years or so." Josh then went on a ten minute rant about what Disney was doing to intellectual property rights before remembering that he'd taken the students to an amusement park and they'd probably want to explore that.
"The park is divided into two sections: Future World and World Showcase," he continued. "Future World consists of a variety of pavilions that explore innovative aspects and applications including technology and science. Future World also serves as the park's main entrance and features the park's iconic landmark, Spaceship Earth--the golf ball--which houses a themed attraction inside. World Showcase is a large area reminiscent of a permanent world's fair containing eleven pavilions, each themed and dedicated to represent a specific country. The eleven pavilions surround the World Showcase Lagoon, a large man-made lake located in the center of World Showcase with a perimeter of 1.2 miles. In clockwise order, the eleven pavilions include: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada." Josh made shooing motions. "Go. Enjoy. Eat weird food. Hit on the people in traditional dress."
