How to Make Friends and Influence People [Tuesday, April 1, 2014]

A distinctly soggy Anakin squelched into the Danger Shop in time to meet his class. "I don't actually expect you to be ready to do real work yet," he said, waving his hands toward the variety of exercise equipment he'd placed around the room--most in the "things to hit" range--"and I'm certainly not going to make you talk about anything you're not ready to yet. So hit something or run a lot--I promise it'll make you feel better."

He sighed at the tiny stage that was also in the corner. "Or have a puppet show. One of our visitors left sockpuppets that look like all of the citizens of this island."

The Pinkie Pie one was especially adorable.

"I didn't ask why," Anakin added, "but if you want to be ridiculous as a way to repress, well, here's your chance, and it'll only come around once. Try not to get everything too wet, but that seems to be a pretty lost cause today."

Elsa really wasn't the 'hitting things' sort, and she'd actually liked Jamie, the one time they had spoken. For all that they were different, they had a surprising amount in common with one another.

She actually smiled faintly as she picked up the little puppet that was intended to be her.

Yes, she would most definitely be over here, quietly inspecting the puppets.

Victor had been out of sorts since Wednesday, and the wetness was not helping. He went to the gym area and fiercely attacked a punching bag.

It was a very squishy kind of fierceness.

"So the me who was here didn't know about ... pretty much anything important," Victor said when he wandered over, hands jammed in his pockets. "It's like losing my mom all over again."

Korra was not dripping, because sometimes it was very good to be a waterbender.

Cheat.

"I'm a robot, right?" Victor said, shuffling his feet. "I shouldn't be stuck with all these stupid human emotions. Again."

"Yeah," Victor said in a long exhale. "I know that. Just ... sometimes it'd be nice if it did."

He pursed his lips curiously. "How come you weren't supposed to feel emotions?"

Victor's eyes scanned down to the ring. "I was designed to be a supervillain," he admitted. "Guess sometimes other people really don't know what's right for you."

A sock puppet rose up from behind the stage and started wobbling a little. It had little felt crutches attached to it, and the owner of the hand inside the puppet was trying to find the right height and angle to get the crutches to hang properly.

"Oh, it it is a very fine day here in Fandom!" the puppet squeaked in a high-pitched voice. "I think I shall go for a walk!" It bounced from one side of the stage to the other making little "doo doo dooooo" noises. It then turned toward Elsa as if seeing her for the first time and did a double-take. "OH! It is a very fine day in Fandom! What exquisite scenery!"

Elsa blinked up at the puppet, and then lifted one hand to her mouth, stifling a laugh before slipping her own puppet onto her other hand.

"Exquisite, is it? Why, you must be looking out over the duck pond, then. Or perhaps the view from Selkie Peak?"

"Well, of course not. I'm looking at pretty girls!"

And that was Joker's cue to show the puppet on his other hand, which was wearing a blonde bun and a pearl necklace. "And cocaaaaaaaine!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!" The Pam-puppet zig-zagged back and forth across the stage frantically.

The Joker-puppet looked at her, and then cocked its head at Elsa in something approaching a shrug.

Okay, Elsa couldn't stifle that laugh. It was somewhere between amused and oddly relieved. Some things hadn't changed.

"I'm impressed you can focus on pretty girls with all of that going on," she decided, and then rummaged for a minute before surfacing with a Cheryl puppet.

She resisted for about three seconds. And then she was pulling it on.

"I'd be more impressed if any of you were any good at singing! Sing like you mean it! Show more leg! How do they know you mean it if they can't see your--" She was not saying 'tits.' "--bosom?"

Her Cheryl might have left something to be desired.

"Yeah, you can see her bosom from New York," the Joker-puppet confided in Elsa. Believe it or not, there's such a thing as too much of a good thing."

Meanwhile, the Pam-puppet kept going in circles, getting in an "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" anytime Joker had a spare breath. It hopped over the stage and bumped into the Cheryl-puppet with an "Ooof!" It looked at Cheryl, and then looked furtively from side to side. "Hey... ya holdin'?"

The Cheryl-puppet jerked back a little, though it wasn't part of the show. Elsa pulled in a short, startled breath, and then, after a moment of hesitation, she slowly raised that hand again.

"... Holdin' what?"

She was so bad at this.
