Literature 101- Thursday- 4th period

Jess hadn't been in this town long enough for certain things, which was why she was starting class off with marzipan in her hair.

"Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, or at least a good day off... and it's raining things from the sky. Things not water," Jess said. "Or snow. Some kind of precipitation. That isn't happening. I mean, we all noticed that, right? Not just me? Anyway, okay, so two weeks ago I gave you the meta for A Tale of Two Cities, and you've all had plenty of time to read, so your book reports are due next week- last ones, I promise- and this week, why don't we talk about it a little."

And then a piece of marzipan fell out of her hair, and she tried to kick it under her desk with her shoe before anyone noticed.

"So Charles Dickens is really big on coincidence," Jess said. "A bunch of things happen because things just so happen to line up the right way for someone to find out what they need to, or whatever. Do you think this works for the story? Or do you think it's lazy storytelling?"
