Basic Questing! Wednesday, Period Four
Class today was being held in the Danger Shop, which was programmed to resembled a forest campsite, complete with several small firepits- one for each student.
"First off," Thor began, "let me extend my sincere apologies for missing class last week. There was- something came up, with a friend back home." Okay, that wasn't exactly true. But Thor was not going to be sharing the details of his sex life with his students, thank you very much. "But let us move on. While most of us in our day to day lives need not worry where our next meal is coming from, while on a quest this is not always the case. Often, we are alone or perhaps with a few trusted friends, in an area where there are no kitchens or restaurants to satisfy our whims. So we must find- and prepare- our own meals. For that, you will need to know how to start a fire. Now, here on Midgard exist matches and lighteres, devices that make firestarting quite simple. Or perhaps you have some skill with magic, and can create a fire that way. Which is all well and good, but what if your matches are lost, or your magic unusable? What then?" he asked, and then beamed triumphantly at the class.
"Well! You are in luck, because there exist several other ways to start a fire. Each of you has the tools for a particular method of fire-starting. Go ahead and give it a try! If you're successful, feel free to try one of the other methods." He grinned. "Or, just come get some marshmallows to roast."
