The Care and Feeding Of (Human) Sidekicks, Friday, 3rd Period
"The most basic aspect of leadership, as you may imagine, is your ability to communicate orders," Batman explained. The shop seemed to be a small room with large windows that you couldn't see anything out of yet. There was also a pair of microphones by the main window. It was probably safe to assume you'd be seeing something through the windows soon. "You tell the people following you what to do, and if you're good enough at communicating and present a good enough reason to do it, they'll follow your directions."
"But even if you're doing your part, obstacles can still present themselves." Batman pressed a button on the shop remote and the space outside the windows lit up. The room they were in was above a tall hedge maze. At two different points in the maze, the students' sidekicks looked confused. "Get started directing your sidekicks out of the maze and you'll see what I mean."
What he meant was that the speaker technology was less than drive thru quality. The sidekicks would have a lot of trouble understanding you, so clear, concise, and hopefully lucky was the way to go.
