Archery 101 [Friday, Second Period]

Today's class was set up the same as last week's with everything the students might need to practice shooting, but there was also a table set up with some paper and markers.

"Practicing anything over and over the same way can get kind of boring," Clint said, "so when it comes to shooting, you've got to find ways to change things up. One way is to give yourself something specific to shoot at, like a picture of someone or something you don't like." He grinned and motioned to the table. "Draw yourself a special target, tack it up to the regular target, and see if that helps you improve."

Alec couldn't really draw, and the only person he could think of off the top of his head who he actively disliked was in this room, so his piece of art was just an awkward-looking stick figure demon making some kind of indistinguishable noise via a speech bubble full of keysmash.

Look, he wasn't an artist, okay? He wasn't Clary. You needed angel blood to be good at art in his world. It was a whole big thing.

Well, at least Natalie was less tense this week? Her mood was pretty indescribable, honestly. The hollow feeling inside her chest hadn't gone all the way away yet. And she was taking an awful long time just looking at her piece of paper and the marker in her hand, trying to come up with something she wanted to put them.

Too bad the things she most wanted to put arrows into were intangible and abstract.

"It's going." Well, anything more extreme than that in either direction would have been a lie. She glanced up. "Sam came back. So, that crisis is over."

Leaving behind only their usual messy relationship, of course.

"Yes," Natalie said. No, she didn't look overjoyed but man, when did she ever? "He knows he scared everyone, too. I skipped the yelling. If his friend Brid didn't punch him, I'd be very surprised."

Alex's drawing was simple. It was a giant letter D in a bold color so it'd be hard to miss when shooting things at it. Spelling out Division completely might have lead to some questions she didn't want to answer.

It was kind of surprising how Alex didn't miss the target as much. Except for how it wasn't at all. She really didn't like Division.

Natalie shrugged a shoulder and glanced back down at her piece of paper. "Just didn't seem like my place," she said. Funny how the... exness of it all came back so fast once Sam was safe. "Not really sure what's going to happen now."
