Flight- Monday- 3rd period

It was over to the Danger Shop for class today, where many of the students would probably recognize the setting as Cape Canaveral. When they met up with Jaina, they'd see she had Sel'je with her, since his dad was sleeping till sunset. That might be fun to explain to some people.

"Those of you who are from this planet probably recognize this place as Cape Canaveral, specifically the Kennedy Space Center," she began. "This is where space shuttle launches have happened, so you can probably guess what we're doing today. We're going to be going into a shuttle and take off, spend a little time in space, and then land safely. And for those of you who have smaller kids with you, it's totally safe, no one can get hurt here, and if anyone doesn't want to go, it's fine to stay out here." Somehow Jaina didn't think there'd be many of those...

Pretend everyone can fit at once, handwavy handwavy. It's like a ride.

Who's trying to keep an eye on a kid at the moment.

Yeah, Atton wasn't doing this.

He stood near the edge of the group looking listless until he could be sure they'd all piled into the shuttle, and then he'd find a bench and have a nap.

Like a sane, extremely hungover person who didn't want to deal with his offspring.

Cade (and Rachel. grumble.)

"This is ancient karking technology, and we're probably going to explode," Cade told Rachel.

Cade was the best father EVER.

Emily Thorne

Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace.

Emily supposed it was cool, but they had done so many cool things lately she might be developing standards.

At least she had no kids to keep under control.

Of course Emily was going to sneak on him before the shuttle went up.

"You look like crap," she said without much inflection. Yeah, not even glee or anything.

Space!

"Um, how realistic is this thing? Just wondering if I can use this as an excuse not to buy one of those expensive space rides in the future."

She might buy one of those anyway.

"Who's the kid?" Cade asked, ambling over with Rachel.

"You don't exactly smell like flowers either," Atton said, because he was a classy guy like that.

Appreciated the lack of inflection, though, because hangover.

"Flowers are for little girls," Emily replied immediately. It was true, they were. "Do I want to know what your keen nose is thinking of me?" Probably not.

The Problem With Bringing People Back From The Dark Side, By Atton Rand: Jedi going around willy-nilly yanking people back from that black ocean of numbness and anger might be convinced that, since they were shiny and knightly and good, everyone else would succumb quickly to their guilt and spend some time reflecting on their issues and bettering themselves.

Of course, if you were someone who thought Jedi were in fact arrogant manipulative nerf-herders with ferrocrete skulls, you might wind up being Atton Rand, IE, walking the edge between Dark Side and not and occasionally falling over and causing trouble and waking up the next day thinking that you wouldn't have done that if you hadn't been under the influence of sex pollen and the emotional trauma caused by Imperial pain-in-the-asses, but, well, damn it, the other party deserved it anyway and why did he need to deal with the consequences anyway?

In other words, that brought us to here.

"No," he agreed with her narrative, "No, you don't. There's a shuttle over there, go run towards it."

Emily just stared at him, probably sensing he had actually put a lot of thought into that single word.

Or at least she decided it was better than assuming he had zone out, snapped out of it and just blurted out no in her face.

"Will you be among the living once class is done?"

She should consider herself lucky. Just two hours ago he hadn't managed to verbally express anything past Metallica lyrics, because the alcohol was only just starting to leave his system in earnest.

"I don't know," Atton replied. "Should I be?"

He didn't think so.

That sounded like fun. To watch of course.

"That would be preferable, yes," Emily said with a considerate and maybe slightly amused tone. "Not crossing my fingers though, but who knows."

"How about you ask me tomorrow and get back to me on that?" Atton muttered.

Twelve hours from now the Bad Feeling would kick in and he'd start to regret that.

Emily tilted her head to a side, smiling a bit. "Yeah, sounds like a plan."

Regret build up character! And terrible choices.
