The Danger Shop today was set up in a series of cubicles. The only thing to give you a hint that this wasn't just another office was the presence of marble pillars and artwork that should have appeared in a museum (and would again, once the White House was finished borrowing it).

"In the lobby of the West Wing of the White House, and I can't believe I'm giving this speech, President Andrew Jackson had a giant block of cheese," Josh began, "and a cracker the size of Lake Tahoe."

Belatedly he remembered his audience, who might not know who Jackson was and would really think there was a cracker that large.

"Not really about the cracker," he added. "Anyone who was hungry could come in and have some, and talk about the issues of the day with the President, who apparently just hung around eating cheese all day. In that spirit once a year my old Chief of Staff Leo McGarry would make senior White House staff members take meetings with groups who ordinarily wouldn't have the ear of the White House. Today, you will have a similar job: you will be placed with various whack jobs--" Josh was so sensitive, "--and your job is to not call them insane to their faces, even though most of them should probably have their medication increased. And once we're done with that fun, Karla--you're up as press secretary."

Natalie was definitely going to be more coherent than a crazy person, at least if you weren't too perturbed by meta jokes.

She was also in a fairly okay mood, so it was a good time to talk to her in that respect as well.

Karla was still giving thought to the general idea of having a day like that and how that would work with a Court full of grumpy males, but with her name called, she readied herself to face the gauntlet.

Josh asked, "If I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts, doodily-do, there they are, standing in a row, what should I do with them next?"

Karla was talking to people of the 'Humans First!' campaign. They ardently believed in aliens and assumed that First Contact would happen soon, probably within their lifetimes. They were also xenophobic as Hell, and wanted legislation in place that would prevent future alien immigrants from coming to Earth and stealing human jobs, rights, and women.

Karla got through this by chanting "Good practice, good practice, this is good practice" under her breath. A lot.

"Many people would be happy to simply give them a twist, a flick of their wrist," Karla answered, giving Professor Lyman a smile. "However, this administration believes in supporting small businesses and would encourage you to roll or bowl a ball a penny a pitch. We appreciate you doing your part to stimulate the economy."

Lex was very coherent, usually.

"Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew?" Lex began. "Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh? Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream? More importantly, why?"

This was a song that Karla hadn't heard before, so she was going to stare at Lex for a half-second until her brain kicked in.

"Glad you asked," she said, stalling for time. "Now, the important thing to remember is that these are metaphorical terms, of course, but the answer is: our children."

That's right. Always go for the children.

"They are our future, in them, they represent all that is good and hopeful for tomorrow--and dip that into a dream of peace and prosperity to all. They forge our bonds of unity and togetherness and we must give them all the tools they need to take their places in the sunrise: education, healthcare, proper nutrition. We must nurture their bodies, minds, and spirits in order to ensure a brighter, happy, rainbowed future."

There seemed to be a theme going on, today, and Sparkle couldn't help but speak up with a grin.

"How do you document real life when real life is getting more like fiction each day?"

Look, Minako only half-knew what most these people were going on about, because this was so not her country or her governmental system.

So she was going to smile and blink and answer in Japanese until they went away.

"Tumblr and Twitter seem to be the two most likely options," Karla said with a decisive nod. "They can both be very meta, in their own ways. Though video-blogging seems to also be popular and gives the added benefit of giving your viewers someone physical to connect to. The older methods, like text-only journalism seem to be falling out of fashion."
