Improving Your Skills [Friday, 3rd Period]

When the students arrived at the Danger Shop today, they'd find it set up with the targets, training dummies, and ~~moddable~~ weapons again.

It was possible Clint was growing more fond of his students, and wanted them all to live long lives. Well done, teenagers.

"Hey guys. I hope you all enjoyed your break. I don't want anything you've been working on to get rusty, so we're back here today. Same rules as usual, I want you all to get more comfortable being able to defend yourselves. This time, if any of you are feeling really good, you can challenge me." He'd be careful, really.

There was a row of targets set up at varying distances along one of the walls, for anyone who preferred to fight from afar.

Go on, pretend they're someone you don't like, no one will know.

If you so choose.

For physical sparring or an archery shootout.

...the sparring might be a safer bet, but who knows!

Assuming both of them are around.

Wheeee nearly the weekend wheeee.

No, Natalie wasn't choosing a shootout. Because that seemed kind of pointless.

There was really something awesome about the way Maddie's classes worked out this semester, where Ethics tended to make her think about things she really didn't want to think about, and then the next day she could come here and either feel better or at least get to hit things.

So today it was hitting things, though this was really more of a thoughtful punching than anything else.

After getting eaten alive by zombies on Wednesday, Sholeh realized she needed more experience hitting things. So it was off to the dummies she went, giving hers a few good whacks.

Much as Stephanie would have loved to use some throwing knives or something to work on her aim (please don't ask about the occasional, inevitable Batarang mishap) she went back to the training dummies today. Occasionally the secret-identity thing was a touch stifling. Oh well; landing some good hard rib shots on a training dummy was its own kind of satisfaction.

"Hey, you're a strong girl, I know that. I also know I have the right to worry," Clint said. "But I won't turn down the chance to have some evidence that you'll be all right. What have you got?"

Well, she had a fist that kind of came out of nowhere? Well, no, she had to pull her arm back first, sure, but there didn't seem to be much hesitation in the movement aside from that.

She was holding back with her potentially ridiculous force on the off chance that it'd connect, of course. The main point of taking a swing at him was in distracting him from paying attention to her legs, anyway.

Because those were always the important thing with her.

Natalie had two advantages here: first, Clint hadn't been expecting her to take a swing at him so quickly, and second, when Clint had decided to offer himself up as a challenge, he hadn't considered that he might have to actually hit any of the students. He barely managed to dodge her and as he watched to see if she'd try to hit him again, preparing to defend himself if she did, he had to grin. "Well, okay then."

Emily Thorne

Emily shot at things, because why not.

She was still nicely average with a bow, boo.

Natalie would have pointed out she'd only told him about a dozen times she realy did know how to take care of herself... But she was a bit busy using the momentum from her unsuccessful punch for turning and aiming a high kick (her specialty!) squarely at his chest.

There was totally some very, very faint fighting game style electro background music happening. Barely there but there all the same.

It wasn't that Clint didn't believe Natalie at all. He just needed a little convincing.

Getting knocked on his ass by her kick was more than a little convincing but hey, that was probably what he got for being stubborn.

Kate Bishop

Kate was there of course ~~even if the player was late~~. And she was enjoying the topic of class again.

There was a cha-ching! of experience points as well as a pleasant little ding! for an ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED. In this case, for knocking an Avenger on his ass.

Natalie stepped closer and peered down at him before offering him a hand.

"See?"

"I think I felt that more than I saw it," Clint said, accepting the hand to help himself up. "Okay, not worrying anymore, got it. That was... definitely something. Are you sure you want to keep learning to shoot?"

Ryan Clark

"Yes," she said as she was helping him up. "Because I don't want to have to wait until the enemy is within kicking reach."

"Okay, that's a good point. Remind me to never piss you off," Clint said, rubbing his chest as he smirked at her.
