"Family. I'm well aware that blood ties often, for lack of a better term, suck. So...human's need relationships and connections. All we really have are our connections. Today, talk to me about created family. Who you choose or who chose you. It can be love based, friendship based, commonality based, whatever. How do you communicate differently with these individuals based upon a deeper, more intimate relationship? Go."

Yes Phoebe's grades are coming up so yeah, they can shut up. So what if she moves slow? She's here and she's studying her butt off.

She smiles at CJ and then starts writing a speech on how sometimes lust is mistaken for love... and how that is usually portrayed by red roses.

Maia signed in.

"Well...Diana was my foster mom and then, well we both decided to become a family so we did. I think I communicated with her more when I was younger then I do now that I am away at school." Maia thought for a few moments "As far as friends go and a family setting...Phoebe Halliwell is like my big sister but she's really the only one still here that I count that way."

"Oooh, good topic, Isabel!"

"Do 'they' try to market lust as love, Phoebe? Consider that."

"Good point. A single flower has always struck me as representing love more than an ostentacious bouquet." She scraps her first idea and thinks for a moment.

Barbossa tapped his quill pen against his lips for a while, thinking.

Finally he began writing about the commercialization of Valentine's Day in this time--it had been a mostly religious holiday back home.

Shep comes in, his Ren Faire outfit hung over his arm. He folds it over the back of his chair (and hopes it doesn't freak CJ out) and resists answering her question with "Sly".

When it is his turn he answers, "A military unit is often like a family. You take care of them and they take care of you. Ideally. And like a 'real' family, coming in after the formation of a unit can be really hard, you're seen as the outsider until you prove yourself."

Bel writes about how he saw marketing for Valentine's Day up in stores even before Christmas was over.

Alanna starred at her blank paper and finally handed her teddy bear the pen. "You give it a try."
