SCIENCE! Club, Monday After Classes

Once again, Science! Club members would find themselves stepping into a lab that was more like a workshop, full of odds-and-ends, and various mechanical spare parts sitting around.

"So," Evan said, offering the group a smile, "the best way to prove that something can be done when the world tells you it's impossible is to just go right ahead and do it, right? And, I mean, science tells us that there are a lot of things that should be impossible. Like... most of what mutants back in my world can do, actually. And probably stuff like randomly turning into a little kid, or powdered sugar snow... We kind of have to stop and wonder if anything is really impossible at all, right?"

"Besides leprechauns," Topher put in. "No way do they exist." Right then.

"We figured today we'd do an engineering day," Topher continued. "Perpetual motion machines. Stuff that runs forever as long as they're not subjected to external force. Entropy laws say no, we decided we'll see."

"I believe it is impossible," Liara piped in, because that was very helpful. "Even eezo deteriorates after some time." Humans. Sometimes... "But feel free to try."

"If nothing else, you might come up with something super efficient, and then you can use those principles in other things in the future," Evan added, smiling and shrugging. "It can't hurt to make the attempt!"

Victor didn't think perpetual motion was possible either, but this was the kind of project he enjoyed. He sat at a bench with a pile of magnets and metal, trying to figure out if there was a way to make a simple magnetic ball game that didn't need any external charging.

Topher was pretty sure this wasn't going to happen, and he thought perpetual motion sounded pretty dirty, so while he put some effort into it for about five minutes, he soon wandered over to the moddable lab to try to make Play-Doh or something. You couldn't deny that was more fun.

Liara was sitting back this time, opting to go through some of her own research on Fandom in general. She wasn't much into the idea of wasting her time on an impossible gambit.

Oh, this was one of those times where GLaDOS regretted not being able to eat (you know, any more), just because eating popcorn throughout this whole thing was exactly the kind of mean, passive-aggressive thing she would do.

Barring that, she'd just have to settle for watching through the camera and generating the occasional soundbite of popcorn-crunching noises.

And contemplating whether it'd be worth it to build something that would generate the scent of popcorn. Because that, too, would be mean. Therefore funny.
