Student Council [Friday, Lunchtime]

When the students arrived at the meeting room, they'd find sandwiches, chips, and sodas waiting for them, as well as a ridiculous bowl of Halloween candy because hey, why not?

"Good afternoon," she said brightly, once everyone had taken their seats. "Homecoming was an... interesting success, so well done, all of you." And she'd gotten the glitter out of her robes, so she was being sincere about that. "I don't believe there is anything coming soon for which we need to plan, unless you all would like to discuss the Thanksgiving holiday? That's this month, if I'm not mistaken, and perhaps something should be done for those who will be staying at the school instead of going home to their families."

Minerva had a bit of a soft spot for people not going home on holiday. Call it an old habit.

Are you tired of candy yet? Of course not!

Ooooh thank goodness it's Friday.

Stacey wasn't tired of candy yet. Because she couldn't have candy or she'd die ~~not really no~~.

She was sticking to a sandwich.

Yeul wasn't tired of candy but she wasn't gorging on it either. She added a piece (okay, two) to her plate and then contented herself with a sandwich as she sat down.

Lex was not sick of candy in the least.

Alec hadn't actually had any Halloween candy yet, so okay, sure, he'd have a piece.

Just one. Let's not get crazy here.

Rilla was getting a little tired of candy, but she took a handful anyway to add to the package she was putting together for Ken.

Karla? Tired of candy? HA NOT LIKELY! She was just going to help herself and thank you kindly.

"It's always nice to make sure that there's stuff here for the folks who can't get home," Karla said. "Specifically, stuff that doesn't come from the cafeteria. And preparing for the holiday is a great way for people to come together. I can oversee something like that, if we want."

FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY, PEOPLE, PLEASE DON'T LET HER.

I am volunteering to post some kind of pre-holiday cooking thread, but for IC purposes, I'm fine with someone else doing it or Karla being regulated to 'supervisor' while people who know what they're doing ping in and run things.

Otherwise, Thanksgiving is going to need to be catered this year.

Here, Rilla. Have another piece. One that was being tossed in the general direction of your head.

Karla was already preparing her innocent face if it hit.

It did, and Rilla turned to give Karla a sour look, mostly because it was Karla and Rilla was a wee bit petty.

As opposed to Karla, of course! This had nothing to do with radio this morning, really!

"Oops," she said, blinking at Rilla. "I was trying to give you some candy for your males at that front."

Sure she was. Sure.

"Silly me. I thought you'd catch it." Which was why she'd thrown it from the side!

"Oh, I was never one for sports," Rilla said, "especially when things were thrown at me without warning."

Beat.

"In a moderately toned voice, of course."

Because children were so known for that in playgrounds!

"Oh, you were probably one for jump ropes though," Karla said with a cheerful grin. "I can just see you now, jumping rope and chanting things like 'Thally thells theshells at the theashore!' I'm sure it was adorable."

Rilla made a face at her. "It wasn't like that."

Only because Rilla refused to chant.

One day, Karla was going to learn about the codfish and be the HAPPIEST GIRL EVER.

"Oh?" she asked, unconvinced. "What was it like, then?"

Please, Rilla! Enlighten her!

"I preferred playing with dolls," Rilla told her. "It was less messy."

Something that was VERY IMPORTANT post codfish.

"Aww," Karla said. "Then it's like you almost did have friends! How nice!"

"I had plenty of friends!" Rilla retorted. "There's just not a lot of village!"

Rilla'd probably had more friends than Karla had growing up, truth be told. But that wasn't going to stop Karla from teasing her about it.

"Right," she said, nodding sagely. "It's the size of the village that's at fault. Of course."

"How many friends did you have?" Rilla demanded. "And dolls don't count."

If you want, Alec can totes shadow her to make sure she doesn't use anything toxic! He grew up with a sister who cooks like Karla does; he knows the importance of keeping the tartar sauce awaaaaay from the pumpkin pie.

IT CALLS FOR CREAM OF TARTAR! HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW?

That being said, sure!

Dave wasn't sick of candy, but he wasn't exactly diving into it. He was now appreciating it in moderation.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha thank you, that is an awesome idea, and I can certainly make sure Minerva's around to keep things edible. :D

"Really?" Karla asked. "Really? That's adorable. You're trying to make this into a competition. I kind of want to pinch those cheeks of yours. It's like you're new."

Rilla rolled her eyes. "Go find another house to shriek at."

"Yeth, Mith Rilla," Karla replied. Utterly contrite, of course.
