SCIENCE! Club, Monday Early Evening
"Hello," Liara said, with a little wave. "I hope you do not mind that we have asked to meet later than our usual hour. However, it is getting darker earlier now, and that will be very helpful for today's work."
As one could tell by the fact they were a) outside in the park and b) had a telescope or three to their name.
Just ignore those heavy winds, guys.
"Since a bunch of us were just in space, we figured looking at stars would be good," Topher said. "Space, stars, astronomy, it's all kind of the same field. I mean, this isn't as cool as actually being there, but..."
"It is a worthwhile field of science," Liara chastised. "We may identify heavenly bodies and observe them. Of course these telescopes are not strong enough to help us discover new worlds... but it is a start."
"So, we looked it up," Topher said, "and tonight you can see a bunch of stuff, like Arcturus, which is just at the top of the arc thingy of the Big Dipper. It's orange, so that's pretty cool."
"It is?" Evan blinked and squinted upwards, grinning a little bit at the sight of a sky full of stars. "It is," he confirmed. Because one so often needed to have a second opinion on something like that, sure. "Tonight is also the full hunter's moon, so if you want to see as much of the surface of the moon as you can take in from Earth, this is pretty much the best time for it. It'll be that bright all night long!"
This was Very Exciting Information, guys.
"Last weekend there were meteor showers, too, which we kind of missed on account of being little kids, but maybe tonight we'll luck out and catch a few meteorites anyhow. You never know!"
