How to Start a Business, Monday, Period 3

"Welcome back from break," Zayne said. "I just got back a couple hours ago myself and feel like being thematid, so this week we're going to talk about business travel."

"Depending on what kind of business you're in, you might travel for a variety of reasons. Meeting clients, going to conferences or conventions, research, sales. There are plenty of reasons to go a long distance from once place to another. How you get there really depends on how far it is and how much time you have."

"For short distances, you have rental cars. Sure, you could use a car that you own, but it's tax deductible and it's nice to not risk your own car if something horrible happens and the car gets exploded. Depending on your line of work, that may or may not be a concern.

"For slightly longer distances on a shorter timeframe, you might look into train travel, but that doesn't seem like it's all that convenient in this country. So when we're talking long distances, we're really talking about flying, which involves a lot more time milling around in airports than I would have expected. But still, they'll take you all around the world fairly conveniently and in a relatively short amount of time, so who could ask for much more?"

Zayne smirked. "Well, I could. Because for me, my only real option is a spaceship that I have parked on the MCA roof. It's also fine for travel within an atmosphere, so if I need to be on the other side of the country, I'm hopping in my shuttle and making the trip that way. It's much faster than airplanes and it's roomier than anything but a really nice private jet.""

"There is, of course, one more option. Portalocity. But that's been so spotty over the last year that it's not really worth considering for travel unless you have some spare time to get thrown around the multiverse a little."

"But with any kind of travel like this, there are disadvantages. More than I could list, for sure," Zayne said. "So, anyone have any travel horror stories they want to share so we can get the gist of how bad it can be?"

"My dad took me to a small town by helicopter and this happened," Lex said, pointing to his head. Sure there'd been the meteor shower, but Lex knew the helicopter was really to blame.
