Junior Achievers Club, Wednesday (after classes)

When the members of the Junior Achievers club assembled in the Danger Shop today, they'd probably notice that the room was already set up with some manner of destruction in mind. Or, at least, some sort of physical exertion. There were a few moddable targets set up, some with backings of straw, and others of brick. There was also an obstacle course of sorts set up, mostly consisting of hurdles, some decidedly taller than an average person even stood.

Evan was one of the two boys who was standing in front of the course, looking anxious to get started, and maybe a little nervous.

"Hi, everyone," he greeted, once it looked like people had settled in, "welcome to the Junior Achievers Club! Which is kind of just a fancy," if ambitious, "title for 'people with powers who want some training with them' club. This week we're going to try to keep things pretty simple, since we don't really know what we're working with yet, but we hope that will change soon so that we can really start exploring our full potential!"

"We decided to meet here in the Danger Shop so that no one has to worry about taking things too far, or getting hurt," Billy said, looking enthusiastic enough to cover everyone in the room. "We figured we'd do the introduction thing today, since it's our first meeting and everyone might not know everyone else. If you want to talk about what you can do, you totally can, and if you'd prefer not to, that's all right too. Then, the course is yours, to practice or test yourself or show off, whatever you want."

"Feel free to go a little crazy on the course," Evan added, smiling and bouncing on his toes just a tiny bit as he started to get into the spirit of the club. "Since we're in the Danger Shop, it can just re-build anything that you might break, and if you want anything in particular added so that you can practice, we can arrange for that to happen, too. We want to give everyone a chance to participate, no matter what your powers are!"

For all that Evan was still a little fidgety about being a leader of this sort of club, he was also looking really excited for the opportunity to help anybody who might want it!

So he was going to try to be good and stay somewhere that was easy for the club members to get to, but could anybody really blame him, either, if he took off from time to time to fire some eye-blasts at the targets?

Despite his hesitation at the obstacle-type course side of this, George was actually looking forward to this. This world was rather less magic focussed than he'd become used to.

He nodded a little bow to the group. "I'm George, and I am a necromancer and a flash user," not that anyone would know what that was around here, "and have been since I can remember. I suppose that's why many people find what I can do unnerving, while I don't."

After watching Billy and Evan introduce the club, Magneto nodded in approval and stepped back to see exactly what some of these "achievers" could do.

So don't mind the tall guy in scarlet and purple outfit with a cape and helmet. He's just judging everything you do to see if you could be an asset or a threat.

Now, this was more like it; it was pretty easy compared to some of the things he'd ever had to do at the Academy, but if he got to do something like this once a week Anakin definitely wasn't going to complain.

He was grinning as he looked over the course, clearly eager to get started.

Karla was mostly here to keep an eye on Magneto. Look, it was a club that featured powered students and overseen by a mutant terrorist.

Yeah. Jaded and keeping an eye out. And planning on not showing off all of what she could do while he could see.

"I'm Karla and I'm a witch," she explained. "I have basic Craft, which all members of the Blood have access to, and I also have special Healing abilities. I can Heal the body, the mind, and the land."

There. That was true enough while not giving away the full scope of what she could do.

Necromancy? Evan's interest was piqued, at least a little, but mostly he found himself wondering about that other part.

"Hi, George, and welcome to the club! If you don't mind my asking, what is flash?"

"The land, too?" Evan looked intrigued, yes. He couldn't help it. He knew about global warming and the like just as well as anyone, but he had a feeling that wasn't completely what Karla's powers were about. "What does basic Craft let people do?"

He was a curious little guy, okay?

"It's a sort of... channeling of power," George tried to explain. "It can look a little like a string of lightning, but you can also form it into shields and I know people who line it to the edge of their blades."

"Most magic users in my world have the ability, to some degree or other."

Evan gave a thoughtful sort of nod as he listened to George's description. It made about as much sense as he supposed it really could, when being described to someone who had never seen it before.

"Is that how you use it, too? Along the edge of a blade?"

"All sorts of things," Karla said. "Shields, energy blasts, phasing--honestly, it's rather a long list." She nodded at the course. "I can show you some stuff out there, if you'd like."

"Oh, yes please!"

Evan was easily enthused, Karla. See how excited that simple offer made him?

"I mean... whatever you're comfortable showing, of course," he added, slightly abashed. "We'll probably get into more heavy-duty stuff as the semester goes on, but today is just for introductions..."

Karla glanced at the targets and then back to Evan. And then flicked her hand backwards. A whip of Sapphire light arced out from her hand and whipped towards them.

A moment later, there were some shards and a bit of dust remaining.

"That's something I can do," she told him.

"Sure," Karla said, gesturing towards the targets.

Evan blinked, waving a hand in front of his face to clear the dust a bit as the Danger Shop reassembled the targets.

And then he broke into a wide grin.

"I can do something kind of like that, too," he announced, looking rather pleased. "Training with things like that, I have actual experience with! My Uncle Cluster made certain of that!"

"It's pretty astral," Anakin replied, with a particularly pleased glance toward the targets. "The gym equipment is okay, but it's not challenging enough."
