Janet came in and sat down in her usual chair. "Hooray for Fridays," she drawled. "Have any interesting plans for the weekend?"

"Interesting as in snow monsters, or interesting as in dinner and a movie? Sadly, the answer for both is 'no'."

"I think I can live without interesting after the past two weekends," said Janet. She slouched down in her chair just a little. Her ribs were still aching if she over did it. "Just you and a good book, then? Sounds about as thrilling as my non-plans for the weekend."

"Just me and a good book, without a good book. There needs to be another bookstore in town. Of course, that's after I get all the exams graded. Why did I schedule two tests in one week?"

Lana comes in hesitantly. "Professor Methos? I need to miss class on Tuesday. I'm getting married - well, not married-married -" She blushes violently and takes a breath to start over.

"What I mean is, I'm supposed to help out some friends for this wedding thing they're doing for Sex Cultures, but it meets at the same time as our class. I'll make up the work, do extra essays or whatever, I swear," she says intensely.

"So you and a boring book," said Janet. "Why don't you--and I know this is a surprising concept, given that you were librarian for an entire semester--check a novel out of the library?" She smirked. "And you scheduled two tests in one week because you like to overwork yourself, apparently. Or you wanted to get all of the suffering over with quickly."

Methos looks at her. "Good God. They have BOOKS in the library? Why didn't anyone tell me?" He ruins it by chuckling. "Honestly? Never occurs to me to go looking for casual reading material in a library. And I think you're right about getting the suffering over quickly. But next week we start getting into the Romans. I'm... going to enjoy myself."

"When in Rome, did you really do as they did?" asked Janet, her eyes twinkling mischievously. Because really, how often did you get to ask that of someone who may well have been in Rome during the Roman Empire? "There's casual reading material and then there's fluff. But both are available in the library. I'd imagine if you went in there some time, you'd be swarmed by ~~sarcasm~~ library aides."

Elizabeth knocked on the door, trying not to yawn.

[[ooc: However, shall be disappearing to go to the clinic. For the third time in three days. And after I get back, it's anyone's guess as to whether I can wrestle a computer off my brother or father. Grrr]]

She comes in with a cup of coffee and sets it in front of him before kissing him. Hard. On the mouth.

"I might have screwed up."

Methos beams at her. "No, I think you did that just right. You can try again, if you like, just to make sure."

Methos props his chin on his hand. "So you need to miss class to... get married and have sex? In a classroom, no less. Is this going to take the entire class period? Because Dr. Grissom's classroom is just across the hall. Of course, if it does take you an entire class period to get married and have sex, I do understand how that is vastly more entertaining than medieval history."

"When in most cultures, you really do what the predominant group did, especially if you were trying to be sneaky and not get burned at the stake. That goes... all right, it doesn't go double for Rome. Madrid during the Inquisition, perhaps. And when did we get ~~romance novels about centaurs and mermaids~~ fluff in the library? This is what happens when you hire a monkey."

Blushing a little, she smiles and looks down. "No, I mean I really think I screwed up. I kind of let it slip to Jack that you were maybe a little bit older than me."

Methos arches an eyebrow. "A little bit older? Or a whole lot older?"

"Older enough to know the 60's and have roadie'd for the Stones..." she says hesitantly, a nervous smile on her lips.

"Ah. Okay. Right. Here's what I'll do: I'll take Jack out to Galactica Point and cut off his head, and then throw him into the ocean." He grins at CJ. "It's all right. There are -- hopefully -- enough remarkably well-preserved people in this school that, unless he knows the details, it shouldn't be a problem." He takes her hand. "Relax, CJ. Although I'm thrilled to see you. Becoming a professor has been very like moving into a monk's cell."

She looks horrified for all of two seconds, then calms down when he takes her hand. "You know how I am about secrets, Adam. I promised I wouldn't tell and I hate that I slipped. So I'm sorry. Really."

Leaning forward, she kisses him again, softer this time. "A monk, huh?"

"You didn't tell. You slipped. It's all right. And yes, a monk. A particularly cranky monk."

"Cranky monks like beer, right? And movies with explosions?" She sits back on his desk, her legs pressed agianst his. "We haven't done that in a while."

Lana's eyes got huge. "Oh no, Sir. Nothing like - no I'm sure that's not what it is at all! And I don't know if it would take the whole class and certainly if it doesn't I would come back here. It's -" she looks utterly panicked for a moment.

She stops and tries to regain a little composure. "It's a sort of demonstration of different types of marriage ceremonies and a friend asked me to help with his and my boyfriend is marrying my other friend in a medieval ceremony. Well, not marrying-marrying..." Her voice trails off and she looks up at him a bit hopelessly. "I'm just making things worse, aren't I?"

Methos smiles at her lazily. "Why, yes, if fact, they do. I miss our old movie nights."

Methos isn't really even trying to hide the fact that he's laughing. "Relax, Ms. Lang. Permission to miss class in order to marry or be married or what-have-you, granted. Please come to my office the hour following, if you would, and I'll fill you in -- unless that's the honeymoon?"

No, he's really not going to let it drop.

Lana's still red, but looking more relieved. "Yes, Sir, thank you. And I'll definitely come by the hour following. No honeymoon - or at least I don't think there is."

She manages a bit of a cheeky grin. "Thank you. I'd invite you to my wedding, but well, I understand you have class."

He grins back. "If I had class, would I enjoy tormenting you this much?"

[OOC: Just had to say that I totally love you. I was giggling like crazy at your getting married and having sex in the classroom comment. :) ]

She can't help it. She starts to giggle. "You do seem to be having entirely too much fun with the situation, yes, Sir."

"Just say when, Adam. I'm there." Flashing him a warm smile, she cups his face and leans in. "Unless there's something wrong with asking a monk on a date."

"You should really talk to Zero about burning at the stake," said Janet. "Locker 327 sent her to Medieval Scotland. We've had fluff in the library for a while, but I didn't know about it until Ivanova came in looking for romance novels." Janet just laughed.
