fandomhigh | Superheroing 101, Thursday, Period 4

Another week, another class with Electroclash standing in front of the students with a sour-ish look on her face. This time, though, they were meeting in the Danger Shop, which meant there really was no reason for their teacher to look so annoyed, since she didn't actually have to do much beyond verbally telling the room what to do.

But she was annoyed just on principle, thank you very much.

"Okay rugrats, my teaching outline says today you'll be introduced to practical heroing," she announced once everyone had arrived. Or most of them, at least. She wasn't keeping count that closely. "So, you're all gonna put on your costumes, assuming the sidekick ~~is present and~~ has lived up to his name and acquired them for you, and then you're going to do simulations of some heroics. You can do them by yourself, or you can partner up, I don't care. Power usage is encouraged. And afterwards, I'm supposed to ask you for your thoughts on the tasks or whatever. So that might happen."

She gestured to the dressing rooms to the side. "Well, get on it."

The Danger Shop will randomly assign you one of three different scenarios where you have to try and be the hero:
A. A granny needs to cross a road. Said road is an insanely busy street packed with cars whizzing by, and there are no stop lights.
B. You see a lady's handbag get snatched. You're only some feet away as you witness this, but unfortunately that's exactly when a ~~meta for~~ Mary Poppins flash mob breaks out all around you, cutting off your easy passage towards the criminal, who doesn't get caught amidst all the really pointy umbrellas.
C. A cat is stuck in a tree. When you're halfway to rescuing it, the trunk of the tree will catch on fire. So, too bad if you were climbing, NOW THINK FAST.

Obviously, IC this is random and OOCly you get to choose! And like it says above, you can do it by yourself or with someone else. And you can either mod your situations, or you can ping me in the OOC section to try and NPC something for you.

"So, that was some practical heroing for ya," Electroclash said, once everyone had had their turn in the simulations. For some reason, she looked more amused now than she had at the beginning of class. "Comments?"

'WHY WAS THERE A TREE RANDOMLY CATCHING ON FIRE?' is not a comment, kids.

She was there. And totally laughing at anything funny people did in the simulations.

Who's probably not laughing.

I should be around for large chunks of the day if you need me!

Oh, yeah, and editing to add that you all know the drill with Danger Shop injuries. No one's actually getting seriously hurt or burned or whatnot here.

Billy Kaplan

Yes, Billy had costumes for everyone, because quite honestly, he wasn't sure what would happen if he failed, and if you hadn't noticed that he was an overachiever by now, well, here was the proof. Those who had gone for something simple would be getting very grateful looks as he passed everything out.

If Billy was laughing, it would be the hysterical "Oh god why did she make things catch on fire?!" kind as he wondered yet again what he'd gotten himself into.

Lex looked at the cat in the tree, then looked for a partner.

It wasn't that he didn't trust the teacher...okay, it was totally that he didn't trust the teacher.

Karla

Karla had followed the lines of her catsuit as best she could while designing her costume, so the overall effect wasn't too egregious. So long as one didn't count spandex, of course.

Luke Castellan

Karla looked at the old lady, looked at the traffic, and then shrugged. "If you'd come with me?" she asked, offering her arm.

The old woman had some trouble with climbing an invisible staircase (or a visible one, even, she and Karla chatted about her hip as they slowly crossed the bridge of air, high above the street) and then making the descent, but apart from keeping to her hobbling pace, they didn't run into any difficulty.

On the other side, Karla offered the old woman some recipes for a nice tea that would help the aches in her joints and sadly declined an invitation home for cookies.

Tony Stark

"I really don't think this happens in real life," Tony said.His costume was neon. And showed off his legs.

This is why he and Stephanie weren't allowed to egg each other on, people.

Lex would have felt even more smug about his mask and street clothes, you know, if he wasn't trying very hard to both look and not-look at Tony at the same time. Someone needed to work on their Luthor Suaveness a bit more.

"Do you think it's cheating if we get a fire-truck?"

Tony subscribed to the healthy manner of dealing known as repression. So, it worked for him. "I don't think that's cheating," Tony replied. "Since I'm pretty sure neither of us have the kind of 'powers' that let us do this like she expects."

A beat.

"Plus I'm not allowed to hack into school property to change the scenario."

Thanks a lot, Captain America.

Repression and alcohol, though Lex had yet to discover just how useful the latter was. Give him time though.

Lex considered that a moment. "Are you allowed to say how you'd have hacked them while another person is coincidentally standing next to a control panel?" Because that was totally different than Tony hacking them!

Oh, this could only end detention and tears. "Well, that wasn't specifically disallowed."

They were using their powers to save the cat, just different ones than they were supposed to.

"Then clearly it's okay." The future president of the United States in at least one timeline, ladies and gentlemen.
