Charlie is busy writing on the blackboards. There's a lot of numbers and symbols up already and from time to time he frowns and erases something, adding something else.

Angela turns in 100 cribbed from Wiki words:

Many mathematicians find a philosophical beauty in math. For example, Galileo Galilei said "Mathematics is the language with which God wrote the universe.” This is an example of the belief that mathematics has more in common with discovery than with invention. Mathematicians who share this belief say that the detailed and precise results of mathematics can be seen as true without dependence on the universe we live in. For example, they would argue that the theory of the natural numbers is absolutely true and does not need any specific context. Some mathematicians have extrapolated this viewpoint that mathematical beauty is truth further, in some cases delving into mysticism.

Molly took enough paper to draw both and several colored pens.

Molly grinned at Cam when he sat down. She quickly went back to concentrating on her coloring though.

After a bit, she showed him her completed picture (http://pics.livejournal.com/bruiser_in_pink/pic/0000278p).

"Cool," Cameron grinned. "Looks real threatening."

Molly smiled happily. "I made it look like Old Lace."

"Old Lace?" Cameron asked as he was going for a more colourful version.

"Old Lace is my friend Gert's dinosaur," Molly said as she began working on her second picture. "She's not a T-Rex, but the shape is close enough."

Re: Beginners

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"So you guys got dinosaurs too?" Cameron asked. "You're going to have to take me there one day."

Re: Beginners

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Molly grinned. "Just the one. And she's not, like, a real dinosaur. Gert's parents had her made in the 80-somethingth century and brought her back to give to Gert."

Cameron raised an eyebrow. "Time travel? Isn't that supposed to have all these weird ass consequences like they show in Galaxy Quest?"

Pippi is quite fond of puzzles and connecting dots. She makes both dinos and a few other animals as well. (Monkey, Horse, Bird...)

Who (besides Barbie) says Math is hard?

Pippi asks Charlie for the equasion to figure out how many angels can dance the schottische on the head of a pen.

((Yes, she says pen, this is math, not theology!))

Molly shrugged. "Their machine only ever worked once that I saw and we won't know if the person who came back changed anything for a while yet. We certainly hope so though."

She showed him her second picture (http://pics.livejournal.com/bruiser_in_pink/pic/00003tz0).

"You probably won't ever know," Cameron frowned. This was one of the things that was going to give him a headache. Like trying to figure out if by knowing about his own crash was going to change anything about it in his own future. He looked distractedly at the picture and nodded. "Kinda pinkish."
