Bel got a call early that morning from Dr. Grissom asking him to cover classes for the week. He was tempted to cancel them so he could avoid Phoebe, but he was going to see her in other classes anyway, and he liked Grissom and didn't want to disappoint him. Plus the distraction was welcomed. So he retreated to his room after Celtic Studies and Sociolgy of Violence to come up with a lesson plan.

He decided to have a quiz (if he was suffering, he'd make other suffer, too), picking through the vocabulary words Dr. Grissom had had them memorize the previous week.

"Dr. Grissom will be absent this week," he told the class once everyone had settled. "There will be a short quiz today." He wrote several words up on the blackboard. "Define the following words."

"After the quiz you may leave. For Wednesday's class, prepare a short essay about a paranormal event that happened in your home world and how it was explained away. If nothing out of the ordinary has ever happened anywhere in your world, then write up something about a unique event you've experienced at Fandom High and how such an event might be explained in your world."

Shep's real answers would earn him an A, but there are all kind of wise remarks in the margins that may or may not result in point deductions.

Lucid Dream - Please tell me we're not going into this too deeply? As a natural lucid dreamer I can't imagine *why* anyone would want to train themselves to be able to do this.
Mini-Geller - Sarah Michelle had a baby?
Muscle-Reading - I thought this was Paranormal, not Sex Cultures.
RSPK - Now I have that Aretha Franklin song in my head.
Sheep-Goat Effect - Anything I say here will have Carson Beckett kicking my ass from two galaxies away.

Shep raises his hand after the assignment is given. "Um... where I come from we have lots of weird sh- stuff, but we don't make up excuses over it. We just try to get a more solid understanding of it."

Bel's still giving Shep that A 'cuz the smartass answers amused him. ;)

"Was it always that way?" Bel asked. "Maybe you could pick something from an earlier period of time?"

Having not been involved in ~~or even aware of~~ the snow monster attacks, Jessica had had plenty of time to study. She felt prepared, and was, but ~~being Jessica~~ her mind occasionally wandered, causing her to confuse things. For Gansfeld, for example, she wrote "A happy orange kitty cat from newspaper funnies," and for ESP Cards she wrote "A new brand of credit card company, perhaps?" [Grade: B+]

Jessica approaches the front desk, hands in the paper to the substitute and smiles.

Shep sighed. How to explain Atlanits... without explaining Atlantis. "It was like that since we got there... we were kind of... pioneers or colonists or something."

Paige had been revising and actually remember quite a lot of it, she got a B

Jake doodles on the quiz (as usual), but gets most of the definitions correct. (B+)

Broots signed in.

Broots spent the weekend in his room, studying. Also, staying warm and out of the crazy snow monsters way. He manages an A-.

Lyta signs in.

Lyta is still stiff, and slightly sore from the snowball she took to the shoulder. It proves something of a distraction and she would probably earn a B-.

Rose signs in.

Rose tried to keep up with the reading while she was away for a week, but some of it is still fuzzy. She gets a C-.

Mystique signs in.
