The same happy humming can be heard from the kitchens today. An exquisitely hand-written menu is out for the students to read.

John missed lunch yesterday so he decides to make up for it today. Choosing the steamed rice, he takes a seat at a table.

Xander entered... carrying a canvas grocery bag, marked Sunnydale Pic-n-Save on the side. Filled with Gladware of varying levels of beat-up-ed-ness. He blinked when he saw that the menu was actually readable, since he'd been elsewhere yesterday.

"I'll have... three of everything? Except for the sauerkraut."

"A man after my own heart. I can not abide German food." Walter took a lot of everything except the sauerkraut (and a mysterious plate of snickerdoodles) and carried his overladen tray to a table.

"I like this chef quite a lot."

Logan had heard there was a new chef, so he decided to try the cafeteria for lunch. He steered clear of the steak and kidney pie (who eats kidneys?!) but the meatloaf, rice and vegetables looked pretty good. He peered at the snickerdoodles. "Those aren't made of people, are they?" he joked to the chef.

Xander followed, but as soon as he reached the table, packed most of his food into various plastic containers. He did leave enough on his tray to count as lunch, though.

"Cabbage and me, that's a love affair that ended badly," he said, wrinkling his nose at the scent of it wafting from the kitchen.

Walter, on the other hand, packed most of the prodigious amount of food into himself.

"Cabbage is a bad bit of business for almost anyone. Blame the Bosch, I say."

"Oh, I would have to say that the snickerdoodles most definitely are people free," the Chef replies. "It's anyone's guess as to the gingerbread, of course."

"Echolls!" Anders waved from an empty table, his plate piled a little less high than usual with meatloaf, rice and vegetables, and enough milk to quite possibly fill a small tanker truck. He'd seen Walter and Xander sitting together, but didn't want to risk being tempted into any more trouble today, because he just might cave this time. "Haven't seen you in here before, I don't think."

"I'm feeling brave today," Logan said. He carried his tray over to Anders's table. "How've you been?"

"Been worse," said Anders noncommittally, chopping the corners off his slice of meatloaf. "That could change after this campus beautification thing I'm stuck with now, though. How 'bout you?"

Normal food. The world is ending. Broots sat in the back of the cafeteria with his meatloaf and tray of gingerbread cookies. He was happily typing away at his laptop.

No felt in the kitchen today and there's lots of nice fluffy snow. Han's in a decent mood when he drags himself out of his room to meet Buffy for lunch.

He takes the meatloaf and the stir-fry, plus two of each kind of cookie, and sit down to watch the door.

Logan shrugged. "I'm okay. How'd you get dragged into that beautification thing?"

"Got in a fight with the sailor boy," replied Anders, after taking a bite of meatloaf. "Huh. Kinda spicier than I'm used to. Anyway, yeah, we're both stuck on that committee now, plus detention tomorrow. I can't wait. Really."
