Sociology 201: Criminology

Welcome to the first meeting of Criminology. I look forward to the coming semester.

The syllabus for class has now been posted. If you would like to add or drop this class, please refer to the sign-up sheet.

The class roster is available here.

There will be no official text book for this class. The first assigned reading will be Zebulon Reed Brockway's "Prevention of Crime" (1901). We will discuss a few topics from it next week - both topical issues it raises, and how you feel about it as a historical document. There are several chapters, so please have it prepared by next Monday.

This class period will serve merely as a time for you to introduce yourselves and why you chose to sign up for this class, and find a partner for the class project you will be assigned shortly. I will allow one group of three due to the numbers that have enrolled.

[OOC: Classes will be slow played. I do ask that you comment to each class meeting (or as many as possible. They will be linked in my memories so you can always go back and find them if you go on vacation, etc.) Classes will contain a topic of discussion, you can reply as you see fit, and complete "assignments" according to how much time you have to play. Thanks.]
