SOC: Sex Cultures

"Welcome, everyone. First, I'd like to announce that Miss Cally will be the TA for this course, and Miss Matthews a general TA. Please treat them with the utmost respect, and if you require something from the lab and I am unavailable, please consult them."

"Last class, I asked you to take a short quiz as homework. Although I don't expect you to share your exact results, I would like you to share your reactions to your results. Why do you think you have different results from your classmates? Religion, location, age, gender, class, race, ummm... solar system?"

Homework: Read the packet of articles I have provided. ~~Or look at the titles, anyway. Oh, pretty segue.~~ Remember, some are more academic in nature, some come from more obviously biased viewpoints, but you should analyze them all not just by what they say, but why they say it.

Sign on in, to make my life easier.

Take a seat.

Grissom is hanging out with his pet spider, who is not named Aunt Nancy.

Bel signs in, scanning the other students as they enter, as if watching for someone.

"I got 7 out of 9," Bel said. "Some of it was, um, guessing, though."

Phoebe comes in and signs in...then tries to hide.

Fred signed in and took her seat searching for her quiz so she could discuss her results.

"8 out of 9," Phoebe whispered, still hiding low in her seat.

"I got five out of nine." Fred looked a little surprised "I guess teenaged girls are more responsible when I thought."

Han signs in and takes a seat.

"I didn't get any of them. I've never heard of the diseases you're fighting, the numbers were way to low or way too high. And of course there's a broad-spectrum disease teast. Immunizations too. Had to have my booster over Thanksgiving."

Han shrugs. "Another one of those backward earth things."

T.A. Cally, not to be confused with B.A. Cally, signs in.

"I sucked really bad at the quiz. I totally underestimated some stuff, and I think my parents lied to me about a few things." Cally shrugs. "So, the over protective parents bit, the different planet, yeah, probably has something to do with it."

Anders signs in and slides into the seat next to Cally. (Who's surprised?)

Anders coughs. "Um, considering I, like, never even thought about this stuff until a couple of months ago? I think getting three right was pretty good. Even if I just kinda guessed."

Chiana signs in.

Paige signs in

Shep scribbles his name down.

Shep ~~does not pick up his chair and ask "where should I take it?"~~ looks over his quiz from the last class.

"I got all the 'practical stuff' right and none of the stats stuff right. I guess that means I can take care of myself and by extension my partner... but I have no idea what the other idiots out there are doing."

Sawyer signs in.

"6 out of 9. I guess that's alright." he hums in a low voice, not really happy with his score.

When Phoebe saw Sawyer come in, she growled low in her throat and looked at Cole.

Pip signs in.

"I didn't get a lot of the statistics questions right," Pip responded. "I'm afraid I don't remember my exact score, though. I think it's because I don't have a lot of experience being in a regular school for very long. We moved a lot when I was young. I was never in the same school for more than a year at a time."

"You will know if we ever do the lab section of this class," Pip whsipers to Shep.
