As each student enters the room they are directed to pick up a handout and take a seat.

"Okay kids, welcome to History of Art. I'm Autolycus ~~the King of Thieves~~, your new Art Professor.

"Judging by some of the stories I've been hearing about your last art teacher, this subject was considered a bit of joke. I'm here to tell you that, that's no longer the case. Anyone who signed up for this subject expecting an easy A, is advised to either change their minds or to come see me after class to sign their drop slip.

"That said, I don't intend to turn this into some sort of dreary dull subject. Art is supposed to be ~~highly valuable~~ enjoyable. Now a little bit about this class. As the handout says this course is all about the history of Art, over the next few months, we'll be discussing some of the major art periods and movements throughout the last few millenia, as well as some of the more famous painters and their works.

"Since it's the first lesson you just have the one task today, introduce yourself to your fellow classmates, tell us a little bit about yourself and why you decided to take this subject.

"You also have a homework assignment. Next week we'll be discussing Ancient Egyptian Art, so I want you all to try and find me an example of it. I want this handed in at the start of next weeks lesson."

Lee signs in.

"Hello, I'm Lee Adama. I'm from the planet Caprica and plan to be an officer in the Colonial Fleet. I love going to the library and cooking and planning hijinks with my best friend John. Er... I decided to take this subject because I wanted to know more about the art here on the 13th Colony and because my brother and my girlfriend are artists and I should, you know, appreciate their art more."

Wondering why the teacher looked a little familiar but he couldn't quite place it ~~because afaik he never had any IC interaction with Ash, sadly~~, Xander signed in and took a seat.

"Xander Harris. Who wasn't expecting an easy A, because 'expect' and 'A' are so far apart in my dictionary that they have an encyclopedia set between them." He coughed. "Nor did I take this course for the opportunity to stare at possibly-naked pictures for credit, no matter what the Special Collection section of the library might say about me if you asked it."

"Urn of Osiris - ~~www.buffycollector.com~~ The.... private collection of somebody named Magnus Bryce, according to the ~~dangerous magical artifacts~~ art history bookmarks section on my computer.

It's good to inherit stuff from smart people."

Autolycus didn't mutter "Just wait until we get to Neoclassicism," to Xander, because that would have been wrong.

Xander didn't scribble down 'look up neo-classyism' in his notebook, while pointedly looking the other way, because that would be almost studious, in its way, and that would be wrong.

"Welcome to the class Lee," Autolycus firmly ignored the word 'planet'. "You know anything about the art of Caprica?"

Lee nods. "A little. Mostly the New Post-Elitistism Qualtism Circular movement, but that was all inspired by the crap from Tauron. I don't know what anyone sees in it. I like my brother's stuff. It's a bit more... emotive," Lee babbles on.

Angela signs in.

"Hi. I'm Angela Chase, I'm a junior, and I'm here because I'm really interested in art. I guess my favorite painter is probably Renoir."

She hopes she didn't sound too stupid.

Angela gives Xander a curious look, then waves at him and mouths "hi."

Jessica pulls a shiny ball point pen from her purse and whimsically signs her signature. Looking at the prof., Jessica points to her name and smiles. "Thats me!" With that she takes a seat, places her purse and books on the table, and properly folds her hands in her lap.

"This is the Mummy Case of Amen-Nestawy-Nakht, from the Saint Louis Art Museum."

Isabel signed in. She looked around the classroom for a seat and nodded when she recognized Xander and Angela. She seemed somewhat distracted as she took a seat towards the back of the room.

"I'm Isabel Evans, I'm a sophomore, and I'm taking the class because I've never had an opportunity to really study art before."

She sits back down and attempts to pay attention to the rest of the class.

"Hi everyone. My name is Jessica Tate," she gives a big smile and waves around the room, "and I'm from Connecticut. I...have an older sister, a wonderful happy loving family...I like the springtime, I love cooking too! (smiles and waves at Lee)...I must admit that I don't know all that much when it comes to art history but you see I have traveled to Europe a couple times, so, if my memory serves me correctly, which often times it doesn't, I may be able to recollect certain art things I've seen in my travels throughtout the course of this...couse, and...I'm affriad of the ocean."
