Newspaper Crew Meeting: 16:00 FHS-20:00 FHS

Deciding that amusement is the key to staying cheerful amidst the emo-drama storm, Chloe comes into the Journalism classroom wearing her birthday slippers. They're not much, but they're just about the perfect thing for her mood right now.

She sets the desks up, and goes about making sure there's enough coffee just barely stopping herself from writing "Seniors Only" on it.

Jake comes wandering in a couple of minutes later, looking very pleased with himself. He drops his backpack by a chair and jumps up on a desk, swinging his legs. "Hey, Chloe."

"Hey Jake," she says. Glancing at him, she finds herself matching his grin. "You look happy. Am I going to regret asking why?"

After her trip to the bookstore, Angela plops herself into a chair, waving to Jake and Chloe.

She looks exhuasted, but at peace. "Hey."

"'M doing an extra credits project in art class. Just got Lilly Kane to agree to pose for me." He tilts his head, looking at her, grinning wider when he sees the slippers. "Would you pose? You're pretty, you'd look good in a painting."

Chloe waves back. "Hey. Welcome to my humble home," she teases.

Chloe blushes lightly at the compliment. "Sure, I guess I could pose. What kind of paintings is this going to be?"

"Thank you for having me over," Angela teases back.

She lowers her voice. "Hey. You know that thing we were talking about in Study Hall, about wanting proof?"

Jake shrugs. "For you? Don't know yet. The other are going to be a little... varied. The theme's sort of half-naked pretty girls with weapons, but I'm not limiting myself." He gives her a wicked grin. "I'd totally paint you naked, boss."

Rory wanders in, and heads for the coffee, studiously avoiding looking at Angela.

Lana pokes her head in, "Boy, this is just like old times. Hey, Chloe, could I talk to you for a second in private?"

Beka wandered in just in time to overhear Jake and Chloe talking about Jake's art project. "Half-naked girl reporting for duty, Boss," she says to no one in particular. "Pretty isn't up to me to say."

Returning from his room, Krycek notices Jake surrounded by several girls and snorts softly to himself. He takes a seat on the couch and pulls out his notepad to continue making lists, looking thoughtful.

Jake grinned. "Wouldn't have asked if you weren't." He waved his hand. "Now get to work, minion."

Chloe nods, lowering her voice as well. "Yeah. What about it?"

"Hey Lana!" Chloe exclaims, surprised to see her. "Sure. Is everything all right?"

Phoebe enters the room and takes up a seat in a back corner.

Lana makes a face, "Not exactly. And you're probably going to be mad at me for even asking this, but... Lex has been having me watched. He's really taking this whole guardian thing really seriously. And while, I have to admit - grudgingly - that in this case he was probably right... Well..."

She throws her hands up. "The thing is... he hasn't been asking you for updates on what I'm doing or who I'm seeing has he? I mean, I'd completely understand if he just casually brought the topic up and asked you - I mean this is Lex we're talking about, but... Reassure me. He's not blackmailing you or something to get info, right?"

"Yes, sir/ma'am, Boss sir/ma'am." Beka's voice held a perfect mix of submissive deference and amused sarcasm. "What work, exactly, is it, that you'd like this minion to be doing, sir/ma'am?"

"Um, thank you?" she says, uncertain as to how sincere he might be about that. "I don't know how naked I'm comfortable being, but questionably tasteful clothing certainly isn't out of the question."

Angela lowers her voice to barely more than a whisper.. "It's awful. They're trying to keep this quiet, but apparently they found a tape of the attack, and that's why Lamb charged him."

Noticing Beka walk in, she frowns and leans back. "Ask Marty about it. We can talk later if you want."

Angela looks pained as she watches Rory not looking at her. If I could only tell her...

She attempts to shrug it off.

Veronica enters the room, looks around, sees several people she's planning to avoid, spots Angela, and decides to grab a seat next to her.

"I got your message," she says softly. "Thanks."

"Welcome," Angela says, with a genuine smile. "Marty told me what you found. You did an amazing thing for him, and for me, and for everyone."

She glances around the room. "We should talk about this more, but someplace quieter."

Veronica nods. "Yeah, too many ears here."

"I need to talk to Chloe, but how about the Perk?"

Chloe's eyes widen. "Lex has been what?" she asks. "How do you know he's having you watched? Did he do something? And no, he hasn't asked me anything about you. I haven't even spoken to him since Parent's Weekend. Although, to be honest, I'm not sure what I'd tell him if he did ask. But no, he's not blackmailing me, or even talking to me at all."
