Eggless, Wednesday made her way into the lab and found a place to work. She had tried to at least keep up with the reading during her illness last week, but she definitely did not want to fall behind or miss anything due to her absence.
Maia frowned slightly "Am I a selfish person Sara? I mean, do I act like I am better then everyone else?" Maia's voice was low so she would not be overheard.
Maia nodded slowly not meeting Sara's eyes for a moment. "Thank you for saying that." Maia met her eyes finally, her eyes sad. "I think I've lost my way somewhere Sara and I can't get back to where I was." Her voice almost a silent whisper.
Having suffered from dementia (http://www.mental-health-matters.com/disorders/dis_details.php?disID=30) during Drusilla's Abnormal Psychology class exercise, Wednesday chose that topic and spent an hour and a half relating the various symptoms and the physical and biological causes of most of them. Finishing her paper and hoping that it would be sufficient, she turned it in before hastily heading to town to pick up Hyde before making herself late to Sociology class.
((Wednesday is a freakish overacheiver. Why couldn't I have been like her in high school?))
Maia took a breath still looking at Sara. "I don't know. I don't feel like I did when we- the way I was then." Maia looked at the floor. "I just, I needed to hear that I am the same person that I was." Maia bite her lip "I feel like I am drowning ever since- I just feel like I am drowning." Maia looked up at Sara and shook her head. "I'm sorry I shouldn't its over with us and I shouldn't bother you with things like this." Maia stayed looking at her "Its just I loved you and I just- nothing feels right anymore. I guess I just needed you to reassure me, I don't know about what I just..." Maia can't put into words what she wants to say. "I just needed to know that I am not some terrible person I guess who destroys everything in my path."
Maia nods and hugs Sara again, her face to the wall hidden from the students in the classroom, she kisses Sara's cheek. "I appreciate that darling. Thank you." Maia steps away from Sara, picks up her back pack and walks to the door.
Grissom looks in her eyes, and realizes she isn't bluffing. He's going to need to call Catherine to do some reconnaissance.
"Right...
I have my first appointment in the clinic on Friday. I read that it can help with the pain of the infusion if you wrap the arm in warm compresses after the treatment. But I'll be down an arm," he says with a sharp humor in his tone. "I thought maybe if I came by in the afternoon, do you think you could help fasten them for me? I've constructed a few models - one that ties, and one that snaps. Whatever's easier for you, if you are going to be around, that is."
He looks phenomenally uncomfortable appearing weak in front of her, and relying on anyone for anything.
"I'm going in during the morning, and it will take a few hours... I'm not really sure of exactly how long it will usually be, until I actually get through the first one. I'm sure they'll monitor me for a little while, so sometime in the early afternoon I'll be back in the dorms. Noon, maybe one? I can call ahead, if you want..."
"No," he admits. "There's no need to worry them unnecessarily. They're still short-staffed, and..." he stops, knowing he's only digging himself into a deeper pile of lame excuses. "No, I haven't. Catherine called while I was ill, however, so no doubt she told the entire staff I had the flu."
If she calls me--don't give me that look, she cares about you if nothing else--what do you want me to say? *Giving him the choice--only not really. Sara won't lie. And he knows that.*
You're being treated for a serious illness, it is. Any other information is strictly between you and your doctor, *she interprets without missing a beat.*
"I was weighing her naturally suspicious nature against her desire to prattle on about the intimate details of her life to anyone within earshot," he smiles.
"I'll e-mail them all tonight, okay? And if anyone calls you, tell them anything you'd like. You don't have to be vague... you don't need to keep anything from anyone. I'd never ask that of you." His gaze is serious, and he intends for her to understand he means that beyond just this situation.
Normally that would work, but she knows I care as much about her life as she does about mine. *Old bitterness behind the words before the tone is dropped.*
*She nods.* Thank you. I appreciate that, more than I cna say.
He looks a bit saddened that Catherine and Sara always seemed to have some sort of tension. He admires them both for their strength, and cares about both women deeply, and it frustrates him that Catherine's behavior on several occasions had caused a rift between them.
"And I'm sorry I never made that clear, before. I should have."

Of course I'd be willing to help you with that. What time is your appointment?

Have you told the others back in Vegas about this? Greg sounded concerned the last time we talked. *The question is hesitant.*
