Newspaper Crew Meeting: 16:00 FHS-20:00 FHS

Chloe sits in the Journalism classroom, using the last few quiet moments before everyone shows up to do some studying for her Criminology test. She might just be a little tense about it.

[I'm being dragged out to be social and have dinner with people, so feel free to talk amongst yourselves, and Chloe will respond to everyone when I get back.]

Rory wanders in and flops on the couch, shutting her eyes.

At this point, she's just too tired to cry.

Phoebe comes in, looking like she hasn't slept. She takes a seat near Rory. She doesn't smile, but she does reach out and squeeze her friend's hand gently.

Rory glances over, arching her brows but not saying anything.

Without using words, Phoebe looks at her and nods slightly. Her eyes are haunted and she hasn't slept.

Angela takes a seat and waves to Rory and Phoebe. Her eyes are very red.

Rory gives a little shake of her head and leans back and shuts her eyes again.

Rory waves, and surreptitiously swipes at her eyes.

Phoebe waves and then gestures Angela over to sit with her.

Phoebe understands and looks down.

Angela takes the seat with a very faint smile for Rory and Phoebe.

"This day has just been ... beyond awful."

Phoebe nods. "I completely agree," she says softly.

Beka headed into the meeting alert, tense, but more resigned than sad. She noticed Rory, looking even more upset than before, Angela who'd definitely been crying, and Phoebe, who'd had so much of enough already.

They seemed to want quiet, and she respected that, so she sat, sipped her coffee, and opened her laptop. Still, she made it clear by her posture and her expression that anyone who needed to talk would find her a willing listener.

Angela shrugs her shoulders. There doesn't seem to be much else to say.

Phoebe gives a slight lift of her shoulders and then settles back against the couch. She just wanted to go hide n the Attic or in her and Cole's room.

Krycek walks into the room with his attention on Jake, who is still a step or two behind him, and holds the door open for his boyfriend as they talk. He smiles, apparently oblivious to the rather dismal mood in the classroom, though his voice is pitched lower out of politeness. "Don't you think it'll be hard to get something delivered with so little notice?"

"Please," Jake enters the room, waving his hand dismissingly in Krycek's direction. "Do you even know how much money I have? I'm getting you stuff and that's final..." He trails off, taking in the room. He blinks. What's up with... Oh right. The girl. He grabs Krycek's hand and drags him towards Jake's stack of newspapers.

Veronica got to the meeting and made a beeline for Beka.

"Hey," she said softly, taking in the somber attitude in the room.

Krycek realizes even before he's grabbed by Jake why the room's so quiet. Though he didn't quite count on everyone deciding that the journalism meeting was the place to mourn collectively rather than everywhere else in the school, as had been quite popular all day. He ducked behind the stacks with Jake, hoping it wouldn't continue like this the entire time.

Jake sets up his laptop, then leans over to give Krycek a quick kiss. "Got to work, dude."

Krycek smiles and gives him a small, flippant salute. "Yes, sir." He pulls out his notebook and the notes from the interview, getting to work on finishing it up for this deadline.

"Hey," Beka returned, equally quietly. "I'm going to assume you know what I know."

She nods.

Then she shakes her head.

"It's so... wrong."

Callisto wanders into the classroom after Sociology and sits at the nearest desk.

Beka nods, eyes closing to hide the resignation. "Can we be sure she's dead?"

Veronica shrugs.

"Either way, nothing good happened to her."

Beka sighed, unhappily. "Yeah. How're you doing, you OK?"

"Yeah, I guess. You?"

Chloe gives Callisto a smile, happy to see someone who didn't look immediately despondent. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Hey," Callisto shrugs "Alright, I guess. You?"

Chloe looks back and forth between Phoebe, Angela and Rory. She doesn't know what feels worse - to see people she likes so upset, or to not be able to share their grief, not having really met Kitty, or gotten to know her. "Hey," she says quietly. "I know it's been sort of a rough day. You guys are more than welcome to stay, but if you need to be somewhere else, I understand."

"Where I come from, death is more of a partner than a stranger. I feel awful that Kitty's gone, because she was sweet and I liked her. I'm worried for Lockheed, Piper, Rogue, and her friends. But me? Just resigned and a little sad."

"I'm tired of being surrounded by death," Veronica admits quietly. "I know that sounds horribly selfish, but after everything I went through with Lilly..."

Beka reached out a hand and totally didn't hope V wanted a hug. "I know how you feel. I was enjoying the sunshine and light around here. It's not selfish, it's just a normal reaction." Concern washed over her face. "Are you sure you're all right?"

Veronica squeezes Beka's hand.

"Yeah, thanks."

"I've certainly been better," Chloe says, sighing softly.

"OK. If you're not, you know, you can always talk to me. Otherwise, maybe we should go out for drinks at some point. Get out of the tension." Beka held Veronica's hand without restraining her. Just offering the comfort of contact.

"Thanks, Beka. It's good to know I have friends I can count on." Veronica squeezes Beka's hand and then lets go. "I'm not much of a drinker, though."

"The Kitty thing, huh?" Callisto smiles ruefully.

Beka's lips curved into a wry smile. "We can go for food, or a run, or even milk and cookies. I can live without alcohol for 24 hours."
