CULTIVATION AND GARDENING OPEN LAB

Justin decides he should have an open lab today and through the week for students that just want to wander in or make up some classwork. He can be seen perched over some grown amaryllis of his own.

Lana comes in quietly and smiles at the professor. "I hope you were serious about my being welcome to stop by any time," she said quietly.

Kiki, having no classes until the evening, come in in the morning.

"Hello, Professor Quayle?" She calls over the counters of flowers. "I was wondering - could you help me start a small herb garden?"

His gaze falters from the plant in front of him, he's glad that she's decided to stop by, "Lana! I'm so thrilled to have you back. And yes, I was serious." he smiles widely.

"Ah, Kiki, indeed. Any particular plants that you need?" he asks as he searches for a small pan that would be good for a small herbal garden.

"I'm glad. Because I really like it here. It's so peaceful. And... I enjoy talking with you as well."

"Well, um," Kiki answers, thinking, "I think I'll start with the basics. Basil, oregano, corriander, that sort of thing. Cooking herbs for now, and then I'll move on to the more fragile ones. Maybe a tiny bit of catnip, just for Jiji?"

"How sweet of you." his cheeks tint a light pink at her words, he's trying to get used to be so admired. "What would like you to do today then?" he rubs his hands together, ready for really anything.

Edward comes in, to pet his amarylis bulb.

Nodding, Justin fishes out some seeds of each of those plants, he soils the pan in it's seperate little rows, "You can do the honors." he hands her the packets of seeds, it was her herbal garden now.

"Petting, Edward? Now, if that's not the most peculiar way of helping a plant grow, I don't know what is." he pats the boy on the back with a hearty laugh.

"I don't know. Anything that will let me get my hands in the dirt and focused on something other than me." She shrugs a little uncomfortably. "Is there any repotting you need done or weeding or anything?"

"Thanks!" Kiki grins. She reads the planting directions on the back of each packet of seeds carefully before opening them and getting to work. She's there for a while, poking in the dirt and humming softly to herself.

Hands on his hips, he glances about them, not sure whether or not he has anything for her to do; "Well, not here per say but at my house I have a lot of things needed to be done." he rubs the back of his neck, "I'm afraid I've been slacking, or rather, my maid was sick of the soil stained pants and shirts." he laughs a bit under his breath.

He enjoys watching Kiki plant those seeds, it fills him with pride to see a student so happy with a class. He hopes this class is a stress reliever not an additive.

Lana grins, "I understand that. My aunt, Nell, was very strict about having "gardening" clothes and "real" clothes. As you can see, I've got my gardening ones on, so I'm glad to help out with anything you might want. I just... it would be nice to get my mind off of things, you know?"

"I don't know the policy of bringing students back to homes but I would really appreciate the help." his eyes rest on her face for a mometn before quickly glances to another plant, looking distracted.

When she's done, Kiki stays seated on her stool, just enjoying all the flowers blooming around her. Although it makes her a little homesick (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a374/kikidelivers/House.jpg), it's also like a little piece of her mother's gardens and workshop right here at school.

"I think they're pretty loose about those sorts of policies. Actually, there are or have been a number of teachers dating students." Lana suddenly realizes what she said and stops talking, turning bright red. "I... don't mean... It's just... I just meant, I'm sure there's no rules against that." She feels completely embarrassed and wonders if she should just make her escape now before he decides she's completely nuts.

Justin sees her turn bright red and slightly stammer, he won't admit that that was definitly cute of her to do; it makes her feel more human to him, just her voice made him feel comfortable. "Lovely! Just let me know if you want to and I'll go get my coat now and we can go, I'm sure I can conjur up some tea."

Lana is so glad he just passed over her gaffe as if nothing happened. "I'm ready whenever you are. I'm done with classes for the day, so..."

Grabbing his coat, he opened the door to the GreenHouse for her, "I'm eternally grateful for your help. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jquayle/5358.html)" he tells her in a sheepish kind of voice.

Edward smiles, and goes up to his plant to tell it what a pretty plant it is, and how it will grow big and strong, and that Ed is proud of it, and he strokes the little bulb-head.
