Language Classes, 11/01

Dream is visibly worried -- or as visibly worried as anyone is likely to see him -- today, and he puts less than his all into his lectures.

Languages of Europe: Dream lectures on the Dia de los Muertos, and passes out a worksheet of related vocabulary. Small yeast breads shaped like skulls are at each student's desk in recognition of the holiday.

Cat: Professor Jerusalem and his cat cannot join us today. Instead, we will study the specific language skills of Siamese cats. Also, I have heard Mr. Sark is back with us in human form. He should come see me in my office.

Phoebe comes in and her face is pale, her eyes troubled. It's obvious she's been crying.

"She's dead..."

It takes Dream only an instant to know who she means.

Miss Pryde?

He is not sure what else to say. I can tell you were close. I'm so sorry for your loss.

He wishes his elder sister were still at the school to explain this to him.

Phoebe nods and sits down at a desk.

"I was told this morning...by someone who knows these things..."

I believe you.

I just ... this should not happen. Here, or anywhere.

Dream is becoming visibly exorcised. He believed the school was able to protect its students, more or less. He could believe that no more.

Phoebe is trying to control herself, but a tear slips down her cheek.

"She...she was murdered, sir...who could do something like that to Kitty?" She shook her head. "Poor Lockheed."

Liockheed said they met a man in town -- a pale man, and tall.

He used the word killer to describe him.

Lockheed seems to have been thrown into another realm, and that was the best I could imagine for Kitty.

Murder... is always terrible.

Phoebe looks at him, trying to understand.

"I thought we were supposed to be safe here?"

*thin smile*

So did I.

There are very few truly safe places, though.

Who told you about it?

Phoebe looks at Dream. "I don't know if I should say anything...her story is not mine to tell...but," Phoebe swallows. "She saw Kitty after...Kitty didn't realize she was dead."

Dream nods.

There are guides for spirits, sometimes. This person must be one of my elder sister's assistants in this realm.

If you see her again, ask her to come see me.

[OOC: The Endless don't call Death by her name because it is inaccurate from their POV. And yes, this is a pain to write around]

Phoebe nods and stands up. "Sir...thank you."

Paige sighs in and starts to make notes (also she's been having nightmares about her parents death since Saturday)

I did nothing.

I only wish I could have prevented it.

Phoebe shakes her head.

"You let me talk to you...you are here and haven't chased me away."

Signs in and begins to study.

Dream smiles at this. I am here for the students. Even if you have dropped my class, you are still a student.

I will talk to the other staff about this to see what we can do.

Phoebe nods. She looks like she wants to hug Dream, but she doesn't.

"I did hate having to drop Classics. I did love it a lot."

Dream is just as happy not to be hugged.

It is a difficult class. And my door is always open to you, Miss Halliwell.

Thank you for telling me about Miss Pryde.

Phoebe nods and tries to smile, but she just cannot..

"It wasn't difficult for me, sir, just conflicted. I appreciate your time."

Just letting you know that Bridge is dropping the class.

6 takes an unusual interest in the subject at hand, one that has absolutely nothing to do with his new lady ~~very very~~ fair.

Lisa comes into class, grimacing as she sits down, and stares at her bread throughout class.

Hank pads in, sits and, after hearing the lesson for the day, raises his hand.

"Professor Dream, as Siamese cats are more 'verbal' than other breeds, is the kinesthetic element of Cat reduced?"

Interesting question.

In general, the answer is yes, though it depends on the situation. They are equally kinesthetic when attempting to make themselves understood outside of the breed.

Parker is contemplating irony, but tries to shove it aside in favor of parades and music and flowers. It's not working too well.

Rogue tries to listen--she really does--but the fac that she's just read the Tentacle doesn't exactly make it easy to concentrate.

*signs in and takes notes*

Um, Professor? About the class I missed last week...I was sorta in Locker 327.

Piper wanders into class and listens to the discussion.

*Hamlet comes into class, and notices that his piece of bread bears a striking resemblance to Yorick. He takes notes on the lecture, but wonders why the dead need a whole day of their own when the can just show up and bother their children about vengeance any night they feel like it.*

After class, Hank gently whaps Zero upside the head and glares at her.

"What the hell were you *thinking*, going into 327? Is suicide not quick enough for you?"

Dream smiles grimly.

You and Mr. McCoy, it seems.

Class was cancelled last Thursday, so you missed nothing.

[OOC: Angela has quite the interest in cat, and frequently speaks in the font o' doom.]

It was all swerval until my safety line broke!
