Today, along with the usual setup of baking paraphernalia and cupcake trays, there were a couple of racks of clothing up at the front of the classroom. Anders waited until everyone was assembled before he clapped his hands, pushed away from the counter he’d been leaning against, and began to speak.

“Cupcakes are serious business, we got that part down,” he began, pacing back and forth in front of the clothing racks. “We mostly care about the baking part in this class, but sometimes you gotta think about the right kind of gear for the job. Sometimes wearing a uniform just . . .” He waved both hands vaguely. “Gets you in a real gametime sort of headspace.”

Sports nerd.

“‘course, what kind of outfit makes for good baking gear is a personal call.” They didn’t have the budget for uniforms; if he’d had his way after the idea had come up, he’d have gone with numbered jerseys with students’ names and everything. Again: sports nerd. Anders, unphased by or maybe just unaware of his own self-deprecating narrative, shrugged. “Just . . . I’ve seen someone on the Food Network wearing a poodle skirt, and . . . yeah. Anyway, you guys can take a few minutes to poke around the ~~fully moddable~~ racks here and pick out a good cupcake-baking outfit for yourselves. After that, hit the mixers and go to town.”

Listen, talk, mingle, have a cupcake off the tray up front. Most of them are tasty cupcakes, but there's a few dubious ones in there just to keep you on your toes. ~~All of them are totes moddable.~~

The ~~also totes moddable~~ racks contain normal clothing -- from multiple cultures around the multiverse -- and some pretty out there stuff too. Rummage through and see what works for you as a "cupcake uniform."

Cassidy

This was probably going to go just as well as her last shopping trip went. She seriously needed someone like Alice or Elle to accompany her on things like this.

She finally settled on a loose pair of dark pants and a coppery brown shirt. Look, it went with her Jewel, all right?

She still didn't understand the reasoning behind having special clothes to bake cupcakes in, but he was the teacher.

Anders was . . . not at all wondering why his Pyramid ball had turned into the doppelganger of the US goalkeeper a couple of years ago or anything. Okay, yeah, he was. Ha. That was kind of cool.

Sam LaCroix

Sam knew that whatever he wore was gonna get dirty so he just found a long, dark apron and put that on over his clothes. Maybe it'd stop him from getting flour and egg shells and anything else all over him.

He felt a little better about keeping his own clothes on and just adding something over the top of them.

Sam's goal for today was to keep all the flour in the bowl and maybe actually get a cupcake or two in the oven to see if he could start and finish a baking job. His aspirations were very high.

Miley Ray Stewart who has more than a few outrageous outfits

In her brand-new outfit, which she was sort of hoping she would get to keep, Miley skipped over to the baking stations to start on some cupcakes. To match her new clothes, she went with strawberry -- a strawberry base and bright neon strawberry frosting.

Was the frosting toxic? Only time could tell.

Miley got dressed in clothes much like the ones she'd worn on that cooking show last year -- that is to say, the most stylish clothes she could find with an apron on top.

Pink skinny jeans and a matching tank top. These teachers had nice taste!

Momoko wasn't a teacher, but she was in class! And a wee tiny sorta bit extra excited at the idea of cooking in costume!

Momoko tried on various costumes, before she totally decided on her favourite.

Unfortunately, the skirt on her dress set Momoko too far away from the counter and she was terrified of spilling anything on such a beautiful dress. So another costume change later, and a slightly mopey at being so normally-dressed Momoko was back at the baking.

Her only consolation was that maybe at the end of class she'd have a delicious batch of 'White Chocolate Cupcakes with White Chocolate and Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting'!!

Now, if she could just figure out how to keep that dress, too...

You are forgiven. I am saving all my eternal grudginess for the three different kinds of traffic jams that made it take TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get from work to my comic shop last night.

Ew. I just had to sit on the plane for almost 2 hours before takeoff last night. Also no fun.

Freddie Benson

Stark was in class. He was just quiet today, having inexplicably woken up with almost no voice. He'd still be happy to converse with you but expect a lot of flaily hand gestures and very few words. He was hoping the lemon cupcake would help.

While Freddie was amused to find a Nug Nug (http://www.icarly.com/assets/1/image/2009/07/02/import_000029.jpg) costume, he eventually settled on the clothes he was already wearing.

It was possibly a cop-out, but it was what he was comfortable in.

Besides, today's Penny Tee read 'Buttered Penguin'. That was totally appropriate for cupcake baking.

Mercy Thompson

Yeah... Mercy didn't really have any interest in a cupcake uniform. She found a fairly generic white apron and used that since it would actually be useful in keeping her clothes clean.

Mercy nodded to Sam's apron. "I see you're declining the whole uniform thing too."

Her own already had some flour smears on it, but hey, white apron!
