Speech Comm Classroom

[She leans back in her chair, her feet up on her desk, legs crossed at the ankle. Today she's dressed in a light grey skirt suit with a pale pink blouse. She reads in between parents. On her door is posted an invitation]

A distinguished looking gentleman knocks on the door. "Ms. Cregg? I am Sydney LaVert, Ms. Parker's father figure parental representative."

Thank you. *seats himself* I hope that Parker has not been running you too ragged. *it's obvious from his demenor that he sincerely cares for Parker -- but knows she's a handful*

You may be the first person I've heard describe Parker to me as a "joy". Most teachers run for the hills when she arrives in their classes. *for such a mild-looking man, it's surprising that he evidences so much pride in Parker's assertiveness*

Yes, she can too do anything she wants. I just wish she'd... want... a bit more broadly. She tends to get narrowly focused. Tell me, if you know, is she making friends? Not minions, she makes those by breathing, but friends, real friends, who challenge her and don't let her walk all over them?

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. That's good. Then you've taught her something I've despaired of her ever learning. As much as I lo... care for her, I was delighted when her father decided to sent her away from the Cent... home, to attend a different school. She needed to breathe different air.

Hospitalized. Ah. I knew the ulcer was prominant. I didn't realize it necessitated a stay in the hospital.

Anya, who is now calm after the bunny incident, arrives with D'Hoffryn.

I am. I always have been. It is she who thinks she continually needs to prove herself... ah, well. Is there anything you need to ask me? Any concerns, requests? I feel badly for grilling you when I've had all Parker's life to understand her, and you've had just a month. Anything I can help with?

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*Sydney folds his arms and thinks for a few seconds.* No. Nothing, except perhaps a warning, for your sake. There are tender places on her soul. Bruises. She adroit at avoiding them, but they need to be faced. Pressed on. She needs to face her anger at her mother's death. She needs to not always equate quiet with weak.

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, the classroom is not the place. Or, rather, she will need to choose her place, and her time. *sighs deeply* I wish her father... well, that's neither here nor there. I appreciate you speaking with me so candidly about Ms. Parker's progress. I'd like to give you my e-mail address, if you wouldn't mind, so you could contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. *hands her a business card* *rises and offers his hand*

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*smiles at her* I can see that, and I can't tell you how grateful I am. Good day, Ms. Cregg.

"Hello Professor Cregg!" she says and quickly motions towards the very tall demon behind her. "This is D'Hoffryn. He is my mentor and is visiting me for Parent's weekend."

[identity profile] nine-and-ears.livejournal.com 2005-10-30 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
*knocks on the door before entering*

Excuse me... *wipes his eyes quickly* I think we might need to chat.
