When the students walked into the Danger Shop today, they would find themselves in a surprisingly quiet cargo plane in the middle of a flight.

"Hi, everyone," Dick said. He was wearing a skydiving suit and had a parachute on his back. "Welcome to Defying Death: How to Be a Daredevil. A couple of you know me already, but for the rest of you, I'm Dick Grayson. I grew up as a circus acrobat and, understandably, that got me into doing crazy stunts at a young age. I haven't been able to get away from those crazy things since."

"Just so we're clear, doing any of the things we're going to do in this class is really dangerous. Even if you do everything right while jumping out of a plane, you're still jumping out of a plane. But modern skydiving technology will keep you as safe as possible and as an added bonus, the Danger Shop is programmed not to kill you. So you can make this jump as safely as possible."

Dick went into the specifics on how to jump, when to pull the cord, how to steer the parachute, and so on.

"So, from here we just have three things to do. First, get your skydiving suits and parachutes on. Second, tell everyone who you are and something interesting about you. And third, jump! I'll be right behind the group once I make sure everyone's gone. If you don't think you can do it... Well, you're in the wrong class. But I'm sure we can work something out."

Which meant he might push them out. Look, it was safe! Because of the Danger Shop.

Doing something dangerous!

On a pretend airplane. Where your teacher points out that you could die. Just not here.

Say your name, something interesting about you, then jump out of a plane and hopefully land more or less safely.

Say hi to the TA.

Say hi to the teacher.

I don't yet know how available I'll be after work on Friday. And right now I'm wiped from a migraine. Bleh.

"Cara. I've...never been in a plane before." She'd been this high up, but she'd been a bird at the time. Despite the lecture she was also somewhat dubious on how this whole skydiving thing worked.

Hank was just about drooling all over himself. THIS CLASS RULED!!!

"Hank Venture, boy adventurer! I once saved the President using five-dollar bills!"

Hank managed to get all twisted up in the harness when the parachute deployed, but was otherwise okay as he drifted to earth. On the way, he hocked a few loogies at passing birds.

Surreal

Even after last term's class in trying not to die (with exclamation points, no less), Simon was a little dubious and nervous about this whole thing.

"I'm Simon," he said. "I -- I can turn invisible."

There, that was interesting. And now he was going to jump out of a simulated plane. As if his life wasn't insane enough as it was.

Stephanie Brown

Stephanie didn't look like a girl who'd ever jumped out of an airplane before, right? That would explain the nervous look on her face, wouldn't it?

Because it wasn't at all like this scenario would be twigging memories of the last time she'd jumped out of a plane, strictly in defiance of orders and into a situation where her boss had ended up temporarily blinded (even though she'd saved his life in the process, thank you very much) and furious enough with her that he'd nearly fired her.

Why would it be?

Nope. Just nervous. Really.

"Stephanie Brown," she said with a wave, "from Gotham City, and --"

All the really interesting stuff was the stuff she wasn't about to say in front of the class.

She shrugged as she quadruple-checked her parachute harness (way more gear than she was used to jumping with, but at least the suit didn't itch like her aluminum-fiberglass-weave Robin suit did). "Well, I've lived there my entire life, which is pretty impressive by itself, if you ask me."

And then she tugged her goggles down over her eyes, flung herself out of the plane, and . . . couldn't help yelling "YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" all the way down. And maybe doing a few somersaults while in freefall. Being airborne was fun.

"Shane Gooseman..." he paused as he tried to think of something interesting before he finally settled on, "I used to go to military school before I came to Fandom,"

Jumping out of a plane wasn't exactly new for Goose, both with a parachute and without, and so he didn't have much of a problem with the jumping aspect.

Asuna Kagurazaka

That look on Asuna's face isn't going to go away anytime soon and now her new teacher was talking about leaping off airplanes.

She's jumped off a plane before, so that has nothing to do with the look on her face and everything to do with the speed of being comfortably in Mahora one second to suddenly finding herself in Fandom, enrolled for the summer.

"I'm Asuna Kagurazaka," she began, just barely able to wipe off the dumbfounded expression she's had since she arrived in Fandom. "I think I might shout at the headmaster in my other school later." She pulled down the goggles and just when she was about to jumped she realized she should have said something interesting about herself and added: "Oh, and I can cancel out magic!"

Then she was off.

Roy was here. Until he jumped out of a plane, anyway.

"I'm Roy, I'm your TA," Roy said when he looked up from checking his gear. "And I used to know that guy--" he jerked his thumb toward Dick "--when he wasn't old with a mullet."

And then he jumped out of the plane before Dick could respond.
