Fighting With Powers [Monday, Fourth Period]

"Fighting with powers... Most of this semester we've discussed powers that at least some of you possess, but today we're going to talk about one that, as far as I know, none of you have much facility with: enhanced speed."

"Like most powers, speed enhancements tend to vary in strength. You could end up with anything from a slight advantage to being able to move so fast that it's hard for the human eye to track you. Up to a certain point, you can fight people faster than you the same way you'd fight anyone else, but at a certain point that becomes infeasible."

Max smiled just a bit. "Now, a lot of people will tell you that someone who's enough faster than you is simply unbeatable, but that's not true. The trick to fighting someone who's sufficiently fast is to out think them. Just because someone is fast doesn't mean you can't anticipate their moves. For instance, if you can manage to fight someone in a narrow hallway you can guarantee which direction they'll come from. On top of that, moving that fast can be a danger. If you trip while running a hundred miles an hour, it's going to hurt when you hit the ground. So maneuver into bad terrain for moving, try to figure out what patterns your opponent will fall into (and they always fall into some pattern), and see if you can trip them up. Use their speed and momentum against them."

"If you can."

"Today's activity is actually pretty simple. You are free to work in groups, or to do this individually, but what you'll be doing is fighting these helpful little speedy drones that the Danger Shop has provided. The speed is moddable random on each one, so hopefully you'll all get a chance to try out a few different techniques and get a feel for how to fight opponent's with different speed levels."

"So, that's it. Get to it."

Tara knew a spell for slowing down time in theory.

It just wasn't working at all in practice.

Eventually, she started just batting the droids away telekinetically, which took a lot out of her and had the unhappy result of sending the ones she caught flying away in all directions.

Rinoa was going to try setting traps, with limited success.

Alex had a spell that could stop time. For as long as she could stand on one foot oh, Disney, that is. And it seemed her record wasn't that long, after all.

At least she had some fire and lightning spells to throw at the drones. Those helped.

Momoko HATED this exercise! Who set her drones on max speed? And who set four of them on her? They chased her for a stretch until she finally found a moment to transform.

"Now it's my turn!" Blossom floated in the air in front of... ten drones paused in front of her. And more coming. "Eh?!"

She sent her yo-yo flying, but the droids were now scattering at various speeds and she was having a bit of a whack-a-mole moment problem hitting them.
