Kappa Kappa Gremlin Meeting, After Classes, Monday [ 02/28 ].
The snacks and the pizza alike were taking on a distinctly tropical bend for the meeting today....it looked like someone was already kind of missing Hawaii a little already. But that was neither here nor there! There was a club to held. And, this week, it appeared that Alexander was starting it with the help of someone new today.
“Welcome back,” he started, “and to those of you who didn’t join the majority of us on the Kohala Coast, you were certainly missed. If you don’t really know him already, I’d like to introduce you to Warren here; he’ll be helping me with the club today.”
Neither of them really knew how that came about; it was one of those chain-of-event things where one thing lead to another, and so there they were, and it worked.
Warren offered the entire group one of his crooked, uncertain little smiles, and lifted a hand to wave hello.
“Hey, guys,” he greeted. “Like Alexander said, I’m Warren. Kind of a prodigal frat son who came back after a little bit, actually. I was a member last year, and I hope that I’ll be able to do some justice to the fraternity while I’m here.”
The money would help. Trust, at least, that the money would help a lot.
“As for what we’ll be doing today,” Alexander continued, “some of you may have heard that there’s a career fair coming up. I know it’s different everywhere, but, where I’m from, one trade can be incredibly important, as can the skills that can come along with what makes our careers when we’re older, out of high school and making men of ourselves. I thought we could talk a little bit about what our own ambitions for the future may be, and then find someone with whom to share your trade this week. Anyone at all, just to reach out and share something with someone that they might find useful.”
“And trust me,” Warren added, with a little smile as he straightened up a bit, “there’s no chosen career that’s too silly, honest. If you wanted to be a fireman growing up, there’s nothing wrong with that. If you still want to be? Even better.”
And if you wanted to be a brontosaurus growing up, Peter, then at least you had big ambitions.

"I have the privilege of being an heir to a throne," he said, unable to keep his proud smile down, "so I have every intention of becoming a strong and successful leader. I suppose the skills that come with that are being judicious and fair and patient, but strong when one must make tough decisions."

Really, he could live without the family business. But if it fell into his lap someday, he'd cope. There would just be changes.

"Personally, my ambition is to do a little bit of everything," Peter said, nonchalantly. "I'm not going to let myself get tied down into doing one thing, or even doing one sort of thing. When I graduate, I'm going to strike out on the road, and see where my wit and skills take me."
