Getting Out of Tight Situations- Period 5- Class #8

After a week spent hanging out in sunny, warm Hawaii, the class should be thrilled to find themselves... on a snowy suburban street. Yeah, sorry, kids. Feeling weird wearing a coat while sporting a tan, Jaina greeted them with, "Glad to see you made it back from vacation. And my apologies for throwing cold at you today. You can grab things off the rack there to bundle up if you need to. I know you probably aren't back in school mode quite yet, so it'll be pretty easy. One at a time, you're just going to walk down the street, and when you see something that might deserve your attention, you decide what to do about it. See, easy."

Like it's the first day back from vacation.

Grab coats, etc., listen, daydream about the beach... You have like a minute to do so btw. She didn't talk long.

Talk, hang out, daydream more about the beach...

You're walking down the street when you happen upon a kid with his tongue stuck to a pole. Yes, just like in A Christmas Story. All your have to use is what you have on you, so do you stop to help, and if so, how?

Who's in an off mood today.

I don't know what kind of mood he's in.

Today the other side of my head hurts. My head is fired.

Bobby Drake

As per usual when dealing with cold-weather situations, Bobby grabbed a coat just for appearances' sake. While he was sad to see vacation end, he wasn't particularly pining for the beach.

Bruce didn't linger much, so he grabbed a coat and put it on, then had another fifty seconds or so of listening.

Bruce was in a typically serious mood. Look at him being all serious.

Ender and his suddenly weather-inappropriate tan were going to take a coat now and settle in. He presumed this wasn't going to be a violent problem, at least.

Stephanie might be way too eager to find out what they were going to encounter here, but at least she wasn't bouncing? Not visibly anyway.

Jake didn't keep up appearances like Bobby and didn't bother with the winter gear.

"Seriously, kid? How dumb you have to be?" he asked and sighed when he only got a pathetic look back. "Don't spit on me."

So Jake set to finding out whether a 108° F bodyheat could defrost the tongue from pole. There were more glorious rescues he could think of.

James of Krondor

Coat. Hat. Scarf. James put these on over his jacket and grabbed a pair of gloves, listening.

James stared for a moment. He shook his head, and fished out something from a belt pouch. "This will be loud and smelly, but if you hold still, you won't get hurt."

The much was unspoken, as James opened up a flashbang so it would burn, not explode. Using his lighter (so handy, compared to flint and steel), he set it aflame, holding it near the idiot kid's tongue on the post to warm up the metal enough to free him.

Bruce made his way over to the kid and said in a confident voice, "Just stay calm and it'll be okay. You have gloves on, right? Keep them on and cup your hands on the pole around your tongue. In a couple minutes, you should be able to slowly pull your tongue off."

Then Bruce stayed with the kid to keep him calm while he freed himself.

"I don't even want to know why this seemed like a good idea," Ben told the kid. He tilted his head. "Not that you could tell me right now anyway."

He rummaged through his belt pouch for something to help.

Is it your sinuses? Someone told me an awesome help for sinus headaches. You take a folded-up washcloth and you run it in super-duper-extra-hot water, like, to where picking it up again scalds your fingers a little bit? And then you place that RIGHT over your eyes. I was skeptical at first, because I was thinking "I don't know that I want heat," but it is the most amazing wintastic thing ever, honest.

... sorry, I was doing lates and spotted this and wanted to help. Hopefully by now it's cleared up anyway?

It has but now the back of my head hurts cuz I slept weird. I AM HAVING A FUN WEEK REALLY. :D

And also this is awesome because I've got this sinus thing/cold that's kind of teasing me and won't be a full-blown sinus thing/cold so I'll get headaches or sneezures and then be fine so it goes on forever, so this is super helpful cuz I'm sure I will be getting this kind of headache again. Thank you!
