"Good afternoon, ducklings ♥!" The classroom was in its usual state of desks pushed back to make room for a comfy circle in the middle with the requisite hot cocoa, but there were also several other boxes scattered around, and Shunsui had in front of him a pile of paper with something that looked like a list.

"So far in this class, we have had the opportunity to discuss two great ways of pacifism and so today will be more activity-based ♥. Because it is one thing to be able to know a bunch of rambling thoughts and philosophy and an entirely different thing to put some of these believes into motion ♥. Now, we're starting very very simply today, because one of the best ways to help live a life of nonviolence and pacifism is to have a nonviolent hobby ♥, preferably something that you can channel any aggressive energy into and manage to create something beautiful in the end ♥. That way, you are contributing a piece of art in the world rather than something of hate and anger ♥. I'm sure you can all guess what my hobby is ♥!"

If you were thinking drinking or sleeping or womanizing, you were wrong.

"Writing ♥!" Shunsui announced proudly. "I am the author of two published books, you know, and I have written a third ♥. To me, writing is like releasing the poetry of the soul onto paper so you can share it with others ♥. But that is just one example of a peaceful hobby, or a hobby in which one can engage as a sort of self-meditation, as a centering technique to remove oneself from the insanity of life and absorb themselves in the tranquility of creation ♥. One of the kindest and most peaceful women I know, for example, is an expert at Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement ♥. One of the less peaceful women I know turns to organization to calm her down ♥. One could maintain a zen garden, or knitting is increasingly popular. Make scarves, not war ♥!"

Here Shunsui chuckled, and started to pass around the papers.

"On these papers is list of various hobbies to give you some inspiration ♥. Of course, you are not limited to these options, and you are to avoid any of the violent ones, such as hunting or lawn darts..." The latter of which eventually had to be outlawed at Shinigami picnics... "But these boxes in the classroom today have anything you might need to get you started on exploring a new hobby, and that is what today is for ♥! Try to find something that you think sounds relaxing, meditative, productive, and most importantly new to help keep you away from the ever present sway of negative influences ♥!"

With a hobby!

Shunsui's usually rumbling, placid voice is filled with chuckling today, clearly pleased to have the students get to do something today other than just listening. Or sitting.

The materials in the boxes are completely moddable, of course! Have a look at what might be new and interesting to try. Get advice from your classmates! Avoid stabbing anyone in the eye with a knitting needle! Embrace your love of dressing up as a superhero and attending conventions! The sky's the limit!

It honestly is just coincidence and not at all on purpose that any of his attempts at Ikebana just wind up looking vaguely suggestive.

So maybe he'll stick with bonsai trees.

I...absolutely love some of the things on that list.

Squall already had a hobby. Whatever.

Squall ignored the box and pulled a stack of cards out of his pocket. He set them on the desk in front of him, but wasn't too hopeful that anyone would want to play.

Yamanaka Ino

Ino arched an eyebrow at the lecture. She had hobbies! She did!

Ino couldn't help herself, really, in that she kept giving his attempts at Ikebana very dubious looks.

And shaking her head now and then.

Ino eyed the list and then the boxes.

"Does anyone know what 'airsofting' is?" she murmured, even as she poked around in the boxes for something she could recognize.

Tara shrugged as she opened a box, finding a simple embroidery kit. She knew how to sew on a button: How hard could this be?

Ender had an endless list of things that fell somewhere in the 'hobby-to-work' spectrum. He was mostly a little exasperated that neither of his classes were inciting much in the way of intellectual pursuits at the moment.

Ah, well. He'd had worse classes.

After going through a few boxes filled with stuff that failed to interest him, Jeremy happened to find a jigsaw puzzle with a picture of the moon. "Sweet!" It would keep him occupied enough for the rest of the class.

Chuck... oh, he had more hobbies than he knew what to do with. Mostly computer game, comic or otherwise nerd related.

If the key was NEW hobbies, Bruce was slightly screwed. He had trained in enough things on the list that it was slightly difficult to find things that interested him that he hadn't mastered yet.

SHARK FISHING.

As Bruce took a look through the list and the boxes, Bruce decided to take up boomerangs. It wasn't too difficult to see the practical use to them, after all, and learning the secrets of another kind of projectile could be helpful. Perhaps he could even fashion some of his own for battle.

But for now, he had just found a couple boomerangs in the box and was trying to get a good feel for them before he started throwing them around the room.

Well, Makita had had a hobby if you counted gymnastics, but that had become a way of life, despite the fact she had loved it.

But finding a hobby that she'd be able to maintain once she got home? That was not going to be easy.

Makita's lips moved silently as she tried figuring out many of the Transnat words she was unfamiliar with. Speee...spell-unkcle-ring? Maay-cram-ahy? What was this stuff?
