Canada Is Not That Strange And Other Biases | Wednesday | Period 2
Fraser's happiness at not feeling like he did last week was never more present than when in class. His edgy tension hadn't made for a good teacher and that bothered him. Today, he was going to make up for it and that meant the Danger Shop.
"Welcome back class," he greeted, giving them all a nod. "Today, we're going to do some practical work in the world of myths. Myths aren't always stories from long ago passed down from generation to generation. Myths can also be stories about common things, having no real historical value and oftentimes asking a question. For instance, is it easy to shoot fish in a barrel? How hard is it to find a needle in a haystack? Those are considered myths because it's become popular in today's society to use those particular statements as common phrases. Has it ever been proven if it's easy to shoot fish in a barrel? Has anyone tried to find a needle in a haystack?"
Fraser clapped his hands and smiled. "We're going to do something similar today. There are three situational myths set up for today that I want each of you to try. You can try them all, try two or try one. It's up to you."
He got the simulation going. "The first one is it possible to swim just as fast in syrup as it is in water?"
One part of the simulation was set up with two small pools, one filled with water and the other syrup. "Here, you'd take a swim in each pool and time yourself to see how it goes. The second myth is can you climb an air duct with magnets?"
Another part of the sim was set up with magnetic mitts and an air duct to climb. "Your goal here is to see if you can climb this air duct quietly. It's important to do it without detection. The third myth is can a human voice really shatter glass?"
The final part of the sim was set up with several crystal glasses. "Here, it's up to you to try and pitch your voice high enough to shatter these glasses. Be careful, have fun and come find me if you have any questions."

cattycertain that Karla's voice could shatter glass without any special effort on her part. After a brief debate about which experiment would be the most ladylike, she decided to try the magnets and the air duct.
No, it wasn't very mature, but she missed climbing trees.
