Macro-Tactics, Monday
"Today is your midterm," Kerrigan announced, arms crossed. They were in the main classroom this time - desks at the front, simulator table at the back. "Each one of you is getting a card. Each card will give you some idea of what your base army will be like. Study it, then find a partner. Together with your partner, you will decide upon one of three maps. Study it. You can take a copy of it home and work on the assignment all week if you want - or you can finish it up now. It's up to you. And no, you don't have to tell your partner what's on your card."
She took a breath before continuing. "The two of you will wage a campaign against each other," she continued, "Or at least plan it out. Assume that at the start of the campaign, both of you have met in the middle, vertically speaking, and maintain equal land. What do you budget, what do you strike, what tactics will you use based on land and troop expertise? I want to know all of it. Write it down, play it out in a computer game, I don't care. I just want to see a fully prepared campaign from every pair in this group next week."
"I also know some of you aren't from this time. I expect you all to agree on what level of tech you'd be using prior to getting on with the assignment itself. Now get to work." She motioned for the TAs to spread the cards across the class.
Faramir - Large on infantry, low on air support. Experience in wooded areas above all. Plenty of resources, but poor internal infrastructure.
Leia Organa - Chiefly air- or vehicle-based troops. Mountain experience. Medium resources, questionable backing by civilian government.
Cloud Strife - Specializes in vehicle-based warfare. Lowland-experience. Plenty of resources, but a part of the army is required to keep the peace back home due to a government crisis.
Prince Alexander - Specializes in infantry, vehicles used are small and maneuverable, but low on armor. Desert warfare is their thing. Resources are low, but troops are experienced with making the best of it.
Emma Frost - Small but well-trained force. Unquestionable support from dictatorship government. Excellent air-force, but the sea is not a strong point.
Triela - Strong Navy, weak air force. Land forces have experience in wooded areas. Medium resources.
Cally - Bias towards heavily armored vehicles. Army is slow, but powerful. Resources are great, but take some time to transport. Army is knowledgeable in prairie-environments and scorched-earth tactics.
Lion-o - Desert warfare-oriented troops. Great on air-force or vehicles (depending on time period), less so on everything else, barring commando troops. Medium resources available, supply lines work quickly.
Karla - Infantry and marines make up the bulk of the army. Support back home is waning, which means the army has to thread lightly lest resources be pulled. Supply lines are quick, force is manoeuvrable. Specialty in lowlands.
Shane Gooseman - Strong Navy, lacking in infantry troops. Resources are decent, but supply lines are slow. Experience on rough terrain.
Blackagar Boltagon - Army has great experience in mountain-based warfare. Resources are low, but the army is in possession of a great deal of expendable, if ill-trained, soldiers. Unquestionable backing by patriotic people back home. Superior air- or vehicle-force.
James of Krondor - Lowlands experience. Heavily infantry-based force. Resources are low, but supply lines are quick. Favours guerilla tactics.
K-Mart - Jungle experience. Infantry and marines make up the bulk of the army. Slow progress in R&D in other fields. Resources medium to good.

Work on the Assignment
You have all week to work on it, if you wish, or you can finish it up now. Either way: plan out a campaign against each other. Cooperate or don't cooperate with each other in whatever degree you want.
