Dealing With Loss [after classes]

If you were expecting a club run by Ben Skywalker to not have ice cream and coffee, you didn't know Ben very well.

They were on the table in the back of the room and Ben had found a spot to sit down and wait for everyone to arrive. "Hopefully your weekends weren't too awful," he began quietly, "but if they were and you're not tired of talking about it yet, here's the place to chat."

He held up a piece of paper. "I also figured that we should keep track of important anniversaries for each other--birthdays and that kind of thing. It's okay if you don't want to tell why the day is important, but I figure that we have a responsibility to look out for each other a little bit on days that are going to sting." He gave them all a small smile. "Other than that, I don't have anything else to mention. Don't forget to get some ice cream before it melts."

Cally wasn't expecting ice cream and coffee only because she'd never had ice cream before in her life.

She might be staring a bit at it now, trying to decide how you were supposed to eat it. Or if, possibly, you were supposed to put it in your coffee.

Elphaba arrived, and had brought something with her this time. Carefully clutched in her hands, the most precious thing she owned. The green glass bottle that was her mother's. Perhaps she'd even talk about it today. Perhaps.

Karla was there, though slightly distracted. Not that classes were all that challenging, but she was really looking forward to vacation.
