Battles That Changed (American) History, Friday 1, 9-3

"Good morning, everyone," Steve said once his class had assembled. "We're a small class, I see, and that's okay. American military history is bound to be rather niche. I'm your professor, Steve Rogers. You can call me Mr. Rogers. Professor seems a little formal. I'm from New York, New York, and I served in the American army in one of the wars we'll be covering--though it was fought on foreign soil, so it's a bit tangential, and now I'm getting ahead of myself. This class will be about battles, specifically, that have changed the course of history. Obviously there are a lot of impact factors on history and society besides military engagements, but that's not what this class is about. However, for those of you that aren't from the United States, I hope it will serve as something of a primer. And maybe you'll pick up a thing or two about tactics and strategy along the way. That's the idea, anyway. On to the next thing. I'm sure you're getting sick of it, but hopefully it'll be the last time: introductions. I'd like you three to please tell the rest of us who you are, where you're from, and why you're taking this class, and Mr. Boltagon, if you could just pass something around, that would be great."

"I'm Jack McCallister," he said, starting them off. "I'm 17, from Hart, Missouri. I won't hold it against you if you don't know where it is. I'm taking the class for a history requirement, the requirement being my mom insisting I take a history class as often as possible."

Jonas rather liked small classes. He felt a little more comfortable being vocal and opinionated even if this was a subject he knew very little about.

"I'm Jonas and I'm sixteen," he started, nodding at the students and the teachers. "I'm from a place called the Community. It's a very restrictive place in as far as what we can learn. I didn't know about wars until very recently and I'm here because I'd like to change that and to see why they happen."

He'd been in the middle of a battlefield before, in a memory, and it had left an indelible mark.

Because the teacher was so understanding about his... lack of talking, Blackagar had a note card to pass around the room!

My name is Blackagar Boltagon and I am 19 years old. I am from Germany. Where the Germans lived. And apparently didn't understand German. I am here because I would like to learn more about the human American military.

You know. Just in case there is a silent war of some sort.
