Beaching It [Week 7, Period 5, Wed. 8/18]

The day was forecast as warm and sunny and so the class met on the real beach again. John was waiting for them with tables of filled water pistols and water rifles as well as a couple buckets of filled water balloons. Yeah, it was pretty obvious what class was going to be about today, but John was fine with this as he waited, tossing his water rifle between his hands.

"So, last class is usually some sort of wrap it up, see what you've learned or whatever real teachers do. I'm not much of a teacher, but I was thinking we'd do something a little more fun and active on our final day." He charged up his water rifle and shot a stream directly at his TA. Yeah, he was kind of an ass. Before she could kick his ass, he directed the class in their activity, "Grab a gun, grab some balloons, or go chill down on a towel if you fear such things. No matter what, I'm betting some people are gonna get wet today!"

While there's still plenty of time to just relax on the beach, beware your classmates!

Kitty Pryde, TIRE IRON!

Kitty looked way, way too excited about class today. Everyone should probably be a little afraid.

Blah blah, Kitty was not a gun person, blah blah, water guns were totally another story.

Grabbing the biggest water gun rifle thing she could get her hands on, there might have been a little 'mwahaha' before she started opening fire on people at random.

I did not hate it!

Except for how I now wanna shoot people with super soakers and do not have a super soaker. *sads*

Cara, agiels ~~it's sad in context~~

Cara smirked. Anyone who wasn't already afraid should be, someone didn't quite grasp the concept of friendly competition.

Effy Stonem, her boots.

As far as Cara was concerned there was absolutely nothing wrong with attacking someone from behind, so there was a water balloon headed Kitty's way with no small amount of force behind it.

Alex Karev, fists

Leia Organa, blaster

Leia grabbed a water rifle and tried to find some cover.

Such a pity she was wearing white today.

And now there seemed to be a water balloon smacking right into Kitty's back. With a shriek, she spun around and opened fire with her water rifle without even looking at who she might be trying to hit. For all she knew, she might be trying to spray innocent bystanders, but she was wet now. There were no innocent bystanders anymore.

Cara was an excellent dodger...when people were actually aiming at her. Turns out indiscriminate fire was sometimes slightly harder to dodge.

So now she was wet too. Good thing she had a whole bucket full of balloons just begging to be thrown at someone.

Especially considering that Mord'Sith training made women in white priority targets.

Two of Cara's water balloons found themselves making graceful arcs towards Leia.

Helen Haras-Uquara, her weapon of light

Leia had been more focused on keeping an eye on Alex, so she wasn't watching for an attack from Cara. She caught the balloons flying at her and immediately dropped, avoiding one. The other broke on her hip and soaked her side.

Laughing, Leia rolled to aim her water gun at Cara and squeezed off a few shots.

Cara was already wet from her encounter with Kitty, but on principle she still twisted to avoid the spray managing to miss a decent amount of it.

That she didn't manage to dodge all of it pricked at her pride enough that she lobbed another balloon in Leia's direction. If this one was aimed higher than her hip... well, Alex wasn't the only person in the class with an appreciation for wet clothes on people. People who weren't her.

Robin, music

Robin's water pistol looked more like a rifle in his hands. Beware watery assaults from below your field of vision.

Effy wasn't paying much attention to her classmates, sadly enough. Busy making abstract patterns in the sand with her toes.

She did have a water pistol though, loosely held at her side. So anyone who tried to pounce and soak her was going to get soaked right back if she had any sort of say in it.

Sure, sure, something like that! Rose was soaking now, and she was going to get revenge with the supersoaker she'd appropriated.

Well, if Effy wasn't even watching, it was Rose's DUTY to lob a water balloon in her direction and then look away quickly as it hit.

Oooh, new target.

Maybe Kitty shouldn't have yelled "NO MERCY" before shooting at Leia with her gun, but it happened anyway.

Subtle Rose, subtle.

Effy... was going to pretend that gasp when she was caught by surprise by cold water all over her back was from someone not her. Really.

Unfortunately, the least sneaky thing you could do in these situations was be the only person just blatantly looking the other way. She was all but whistling innocently. So that was a jet or two of water heading right for her back. Fighting dirty against dirty.

Once she saw them coming, the balloons were easier to avoid. Leia scrambled to her feet and dodged this attack, running backwards as she kept firing at Cara.

The split second warning was enough for Leia to spin around and get out of the way of the initial blast of water. "Surrender or die!" she shouted back, taking aim at Kitty.

Princess Ariel, baseball bat. Or fire, and how it...what's the word?

...BURNS.

Now that she was getting a feel as to how the pistols worked Cara was getting much better at dodging the streams of water. Having a preference close quarter fighting meant she also had very few compunctions about closing the distance to throw a balloon at Leia from point blank range, especially since running forwards meant she didn't have to watch her footing.

Since Rose was already wet, surely she wouldn't mind a water balloon adding to the dampness.

If she didn't Cara was going to be terribly sorry, honest.

"Never!" Kitty cried, willing to take the hit- what, it was hot- if it meant she could open fire on Leia at the same time.

True, next week, she might be anthropomorphic seaweed at the bottom of a dark sea cave, but today? She was going to run around and shoot water pistols and probably get shot herself.

Awesome.

Of course, Ariel's plan involved shooting all the cute boys, but no one was going to be safe from her aim.

Well, actually, everyone probably would be because her aim was pretty terrible. And her dodging wasn't too good, either, but who cared?

Leia held her ground. She was going to get wet no matter what at this point, so she took the balloon to her chest, grinned, and kept firing now that her target was even closer.

Leia was totally soaked by now, so a little more water didn't matter. "I won't go down without a fight!" she yelled.

"Neither will I!" Kitty cried, and frowned when her gun ran out of water. "Uh oh."

Given that Cara wasn't wearing white, she considered herself to have won, no matter how soaked she got now.

Smirking about it wasn't very sportsmanlike though. Nor was very blatantly checking out the results of your handiwork, Cara.

By now it should have been obviously to anyone with eyes that Cara's plan was to SOAK ALL THE ~~GIRLS~~ THINGS which meant she was hurling a few balloons Ariel's way as well.

"Aha!" Leia declared, still brandishing her rifle, though it was almost empty as well. "This is your last chance. Surrender or I'll fire."

Leia couldn't help but notice the smirking and the checking out. "And here I thought it was Alex I had to watch out for," she said.

Cara was taking her sweet time with both. "That's what you get for only expecting one line of attack."

Someone took her water fights a touch too seriously.

Well, hey, Ariel actually loved to get wet ~~not dirty, question mark~~, so, while her attention was distracted in plotting against attacking a cute boy, those few balloons got her easily and got her good. If she had the voice, she would have let out a shriek of surprise and amusement, followed by a laugh as she spun around to see who the culprit was.

And pulled her squirt gun trigger with repeated abandon, sending off so many streams of water that, even with her poor aim, at least one of them had to be bound to hit Cara, right?

Rapid rate of fire wasn't something Cara was used to and while she was a quick study, just not that quick. Thus she was now also quite wet ~~not dirty...probably~~.
