When the students showed up, they would find Chloe in the front of the classroom instead of Mitchell. She looked a little ill at ease, but once everyone was seated, she gave them all her best smile. Yes, it was still a shy one.

"Mitchell wasn't able to be here today due to some business he needed to take care of, so I'm in charge of the class this time." Because she looked like she was so fierce, right? "I figured that since we keep talking about the invention of the television and how it has changed things in the world over the years, we could actually watch a couple of clips from shows or movies." She gestured to different TVs and snacks set out about the room. "At each station is a TV with something different playing on it, as well as snacks and drinks. Find something that catches your interest at one of the stations, and relax and enjoy yourself."

Making a good impression, she flopped on one of the couches with a movie playing and waved her remote. "One more thing, you won't find anything above an R rating on any of the machines. Let's not get Mitchell or ourselves into trouble with the bosses."

Yep, she's there and doing her best to not look like she's at all nervous about being the one in charge of class today.

Lame class is lamer than what I planned, but oh my god so tired from the move and work.

Yeah, Kate was picking up on the nervousness, and she was hoping to God it was just because Chloe had to play teacher today.

She was playing her own twinge of nervousness cool, too.

"Mitchell couldn't make it, huh?"

It was completely because she was playing teacher. If she thought anything was wrong, well, she really would tell Kate first because she thought Kate was badass.

She nodded. "There was a message from him last night asking me if I could take care of the class for today."

Kate thought of herself as pretty badass, too. It was... not necessarily a good thing. More like exactly the kind of thing that lead her into some big trouble. And already had at least once.

"Okay," she said, nodding. "Um... How'd he sound?"

She thought for a second. "He sounded like Mitchell?" Because that cleared things right up there, Chloe. "I mean, he didn't sound worried or scared or anything like that. He didn't sound as anxious as he kind of did when he asked me if I would go spend some time with Annie before?"

Well, that restored part of Kate's faith in Mitchell actually calling and telling her if things started going seriously wrong. She liked being in the loop.

"Okay, good," she replied, nodding again. "He likes to disappear sometimes, so I wondered."

Kate probably didn't need to justify her curiosity, but she still sometimes tried to act like no one knew they were as close as they were. It was a thing.

It was a good thing that Chloe had an idea that they were close, because that way, Kate was guaranteed to get any information if there was a problem.

"Disappear? Well, maybe he had his ass kicked by Annie over the weekend and didn't want to show up here looking like he lost a fight?"

"Maybe," Kate said, with a faint smirk. Yes, still a little worried, even if she'd totally be able to sleep at night and would manage to refrain from harassing Mitchell by phone. "Or George is having a... detergent-related meltdown or something."
