Philosophy classroom, Friday afternoon

After today's somewhat explosive Ethics class, Tara grabs lunch and returns to the classroom, anticipating fallout from various students... and questions from others.

Belthazor knocked on the door. "Ta-My Lady, can I ask you something?"

"Certainly," Tara smiles. "What is it?"

Belthazor walked into the office and took a seat. "Can you give me detention?" he asked.

"I can," Tara replies. "I see no reason to. Are you asking me to give you detention, Belthazor?"

"Yes, my lady," Belthazor said, nodding. "Just once. This weekend."

"Explain."

"Phoebe" -- he corrected himself -- "my Bright One got herself detention for some dumb reason. Given that dentention can be very harrowing, and because her safety is in my hands, I need to be in there to ensure she is well."

Tara smiles, broadly. "Very well, Belthazor. You may attend detention to protect your Bright One. I will make the arrangements. Please understand that within detention, however, the Ms. Cregg's rules take precedence."

"Of course," Belthazor said, matching Tara's smile. "Thank you, my lady."

"You're welcome," Tara replied, inclining her head graciously. Then, laughing, she added, "have you decided what she is to call you, yet?"

"Beloved lord, actually," Belthazor said. "We haven't sorted out the safeword yet."

"Make sure you do before you make any requests of her. Other than that," Tara smiles, "I have no doubt you'll take care of her."

"Yo, My Lady." Kawalsky set a bottle of water down on her desk for her and opened one for himself. "Any death threats yet?"

"Oh, I will," Belthazor said, grinning. "And if nothing else it lets me keep her close until we figure out this stalking business."

"Stop right there," Tara says. "Stalking? What's going on?"

"Thank you, Rabbit," Tara grins. "No death threats so far, although I'm pretty scared of Janet right now. Cameron and Liz seem a bit calmer, but they've all been excused from the practical side of the assignment. I am a little concerned about the prejudice they're showing against slaves... but I don't know what to do about it."

"Someone has been sending my Bright One flowers -- black roses and dead ones -- with threats," Belthazor said, scowling now. "Whoever it is wants her to move back into the dorms. Which is what I want. Which is what she's going to do this weekend. But we don't know who has been doing it or why."

"As your TA, I recommend doing nothing whatsoever. Janet's scary when she wants to be scary, and Cam and Liz are strong-minded and there's no changing their mind once they've decided what they want to think." He gulped down some of his water. "That's not a bad thing. It works for them. They're good people and that helps them be good."

"Have you reported the threats to the police?"

"If you get the chance to talk to either of the girls about it, let them know they can always choose to take a non-participation mark on this week, would you? I've given them a replacement assignment, but neither of them looked enthusiastic about it."

Belthazor looked at her as if the concept of informing the police was foreign to him. "No," he said. "I prefer to handle this kind of thing on my own. I'll find out whoever is doing it and deal with them."

"They're pretty touchy about the topic. Didn't realize *how* touchy. I don't think they understand what the project's meant to achieve, but hey. Not my place to try to convince them. I'll mention the non-participation thing when I see them."

"I'm sure you will, Belthazor. And the police won't do anything about it." She frowned at him, seriously. "But it means that when you do 'deal with them', you've got self defence already in place."

"Thank you, Rabbit." Tara grins. "How do you feel about the name, by the way? I had to pick something."

"Works fine for me. I don't quite understand it, but hey, it's a helluva lot better than the other nicknames I've been given over the years."
