Surviving and Thriving, Monday, Period 2
For the final, the students met at the Causeway, and they had been instructed to wear whatever clothing they had purchased last week. Both Lady Ghanima and Captain Algren were dressed in contemporary attire again as well, and they were distributing tickets.
"Today," Algren said, "we're going to be putting what you've learned about modern times through this class and after spending a term on Fandom Island to the test. We won't throw you to the wolves, per se, but it is up to each and every one of you to conduct yourselves in a manner appropriate to the times during our outing today."
"We're taking a trip to the American Visionary Art Museum," Ghanima said. "And afterwards, we'll grab some fast food before heading back to campus, so that you don't miss lunch today."
"While an hour and a half is hardly enough time to take in the entire museum, we hope that you'll enjoy the outing, and take the opportunity to view both the exhibits and the other people in attendance."
"Keep an eye out for any works in the current Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness exhibition that reflect what it is we've told you about the mindset of people today," Algren added, "or if you're feeling ambitious, try to piece together what events through history have influenced the artists who have created these works."
He cracked a small smile. "Try not to burn down the building when we get there. And, if you enjoy this outing and find yourself wanting more before the next term begins, Lady Ghanima and myself are planning another outing for next week, a day trip on Sunday the 27th, for any of you interested in visiting a modern zoo or science center."
A portal then flickered into existence, and Ghanima gestured towards it with a smile. "Shall we?"

The American Visionary Art Museum

On the occasion of the Centennial of the birth of visionary artist Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, 38 out-of-this-world paintings come to us from the Von Bruenchenhein Collection and look simply dazzling en masse in our 3rd Floor Gallery. In AVAM's 15 year history, we've featured single-artist exhibitions only four times; and are most grateful for this opportunity to display some of EVB's best works and tell his story. Often completed in a frenzy of activity that lasted one to three hours, Eugene Von Bruenchenhein's paintings are amazing for their dimensionality and detail, and for the worlds they reveal to us - so far removed from our own.

Tall Sculpture Barn
Giant Whirligig & Scupture Plaza
The Sculpture Plaza is terraced and paved with granite and quartz, the outdoor plaza is where large groups may gather. It is also the central circulation area between the main museum building, tall sculpture barn, and garden. The plaza functions as the ground level connector to Federal Hill and Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

She apologized quite profusely and then took her lunch to a seat before poking a bit at what she'd ordered.
