Blending In, Wednesday, Period 6

When the students arrived today, they would find themselves outside in even warmer weather than Fandom was having. Luckily, Ziva had programmed the Danger Shop to make sure everyone was dressed appropriately too.

"No matter where in the world you go, you will most likely encounter wildlife that is unique to the area. Sometimes, this is only a matter of familiar animals having a different appearance, such as our own teal deer. But sometimes, you might have to deal with animals you would not find anywhere else, and might be unfamiliar with altogether." She motioned to the open tour bus that was waiting for them and smiled. "Today, we will be meeting some animals you will not encounter in Fandom. Hopefully."

The pride of ~~Jesus~~ lions (http://www.wanderingeducators.com/files/images/Lion%20Pride,%20Masai%20Mara,%20Kenya.JPG) was just sort of chilling out, looking all majestic. Except for the baby lions because baby lions only know how to be adorable.

The first tiger (http://www.solarnavigator.net/animal_kingdom/animal_images/Tiger_panthera_tigris_tigris_Bengal.jpg) the bus passed was running and playing with a zebra! Then the tiger caught the zebra! Then...well, Ziva wouldn't think less of anyone who wanted to stop looking at that point.

The cheetahs (http://mcestonia.myaiesec.net/uploaded_images/2005_0204_cheetah_cubs07-702199.jpg) that were relaxing by a stream were mostly baby cheetahs. Maybe more baby animal cuteness would make the students feel better?

Once the tour was over, everyone was brought to a picnic setup, with chicken (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Moroccan-Peach-Roasted-Chicken/Detail.aspx), vegetables (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Marrakesh-Vegetable-Curry/Detail.aspx), and, of course, dessert (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/South-African-Malvapoeding-Marshmallow-Pudding/Detail.aspx).

She was totally not humming "The Circle of Life" under her breath.

Okay, maybe she was, but it was quiet humming.

Note of the week: Do not Google "safari outfit" unless you want to get bombarded with pictures of scantily clad women in "Sexy Safari Girl" Halloween costumes. Also, I resisted the urge to earworm you all. You're welcome!

Okay, so she'd never actually met any real examples of the great cats on today's tour. So there had been some element of curiosity in seeing them, but she hadn't really been concerned about the prospect of what would happen if she ever had to encounter one in real life.

Blind Seer was, likewise, mostly concerned with making short work of his share of the chicken.

Rosalind had, actually, found that she'd enjoyed the tour. She nibbled on some of the food and idly checked the pictures she'd taken on her phone.

Del wanted to get one and...well, it wasn't as if she could take it out of the Danger Shop -technically she could, but perish the thought-.

She was going all aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw on the baby lions though.

"Zebras are awful players...or lions maybe are meany winners."

It was up for debate, but Del was not missing the show.

It was only dessert for Delirium.

Even though it wasn't a real life, Ben felt compelled to bear witness to its ending.

He wasn't going to be that hungry for a bit, but he had to watch.

Ben picked at his chicken and tried to get the image of the zebra out of the forefront of his mind.

"The tiger did not do it to be cruel," Firekeeper offered quietly, although she suspected Ben already knew that.

Ben gave her a faint smile. "I know. We have to evolve further in order to learn cruelty. It was just doing what is in its nature to do."

Blackagar Boltagon

Firekeeper wasn't sure if she agreed with that, precisely; the Royal and Wise Beasts of her own world were just as intelligent as humans, after all. "The horse," for she didn't know what a zebra was, "also know this is part of life, to feed a hunter."

James of Krondor

He'd heard of them before, from stories told about Great Kesh.

He was not expecting the young ones to be cute.

He'd seen this played out before on a smaller scale with alleycats and rats, but it was still disturbing, a bit.

The food was tasty, not something he was used to. He debated seconds.

Ben nodded. "Exactly. He should have been faster, or with more of his own kind."
