Monomyths [Tuesday, April 20, Period 3]
"Well, this is our last class," Cindy said, giving the everyone a smile. "I want to thank you all very much for your attendance and participation this semester. This has been a difficult class, I know, but I know you've all worked very had and I appreciate it." She pointed to her desk, which had a box of J,GoB pastries and two carafes of coffee. "Feel free to partake, either before or after your presentation."
Leaning back, she gestured to the front of the classroom. "For your final, you were asked to watch all seven seasons of Wendy the Werewolf Stalker and decide whether Wendy is on a masculine journey or a feminine one. The answers 'both' and 'neither' are also acceptable positions to argue. Using scenes from the show and information about the individual stages, please share with the class what journey you think Wendy is on."

She proceeded to go on at exhaustive, babbly, wildly-gesticulating length, having picked out one plot point from each season that made the case for the masculine journey, and one from each season for the feminine journey. That might not seem like much, but factor in Gabrielle's tendency to extemporize and wander off onto tangents and it made for a lengthy presentation especially when she indulged in her occasional impulse to re-enact certain moments complete with melodramatic posing and enthusiastic facial expressions.
Honestly, she did have a point in there, but it might have been somewhat lost among all the, er, presenting.
At least she was enthusiastic about it?
[OOC: If handwaved, otherwise I would ramble on forever and no.]

Then, somehow, he got sidetracked into an almost-rant about how the two categories were artificially limiting for analysis because while they were useful they tried to stuff everything into pre-defined boxes. It was the kind of rant that you slipped into when you'd done a lot of really interesting thinking on the subject.
Someone had really enjoyed the class, it seemed.

"The series ends happy, sort of," Francine finished up. "But that's only because they closed it on a high point, you know? I made the mistake of opening up one of the followup comics and it's like they're back to the middle of season six again, only with bigger monsters and more sex."

Re: Presentations
Alice argued that the journey was masculine. Then tore that down and argued that it was feminine. Then she retreated and took the point that it was either, and then completely tore that apart and argued it was neither. Then there were more visual aids. Her visual aids were decidedly gory.
It was very hard to tell where her premise ended, but it seemed that she was making the strongest case for "both, at different times." Though possibly the small fragment of logical sense involved was entirely coincidental.
Also, not all of her examples came from Wendy. She had clearly watched the series, as most of her examples were accurate, but a few were from other media entirely. Whether they were illustrative or she actually thought those were part of Wendy-canon is an exercise left to the reader to discern.
