Your intrepid club leaders didn't look particularly cheerful today, after the weekend. And Tahiri, in particular, looked like she was ready to climb into an actual cockpit and not just a simulation -- crisp flight suit, boots (ugh), very compact travel bag.

"Hey, guys," she said, hands tucked behind her back. "After this weekend we could probably use a pretty easy day, huh?"

Ben kept sneaking glances at her outfit, looking unhappy. "Or possibly a chance to shoot things in a safe environment," he added. Which he really wanted to do. "So our land-based option today is speeder bikes," he said, then went through the basic controls of one.

"You'll like those," Tahiri added, going for cheerful and missing by a few centimeters. "If you think you're up for it, today's spaceflight option is one that isn't actually from our galaxy, even though the ship looks kind of similar to some of our snubfighters . . . it's a Viper Mark II." It was her turn to go over the controls there, which took a while; the Mark II wasn't known for having a technologically advanced instrument panel. "The tricky thing about these is they don't carry lasers. Those guns carry actual ammo. Well -- simulated actual ammo, anyway, so it'll have a different kind of kick. Just keep that in mind while you're shooting things, okay?"

Ben nodded. "Have fun, guys."

Seeing that, Tahiri wasn't going to point out that it could very well end up that way anyhow. That was just how things went.

"Hey," she said lightly -- more lightly than she felt, because she never wanted to miss out on the chance to say it now. "Love you. No moping on my behalf, okay?"

Yeah, that'd work.

"I don't mope," Ben replied with a smile, even though he knew that wasn't true. "Love you too."

Tahiri's snort was oh so very eloquent. Well, it was -- it just wasn't terribly gracious.

"Portal'll be ready soon. I should get going," she said reluctantly.

Ben nodded. "Call if there's any downtime?"

Ben, she'll need both hands when she leaves.

Oh, sure. If she was conscious when she had that downtime. This was Tahiri; the odds were pretty split.

She paused, looked down at their hands, and grinned. "Were you planning on keeping that for me?"

Ben had the grace to look embarrassed. "Oh." Then he grinned back. "Skywalker thing. I have to keep one hand as collateral."

"Can't you just take a voucher for it?" Tahiri asked, laughing. "I'm going to need that, you know."

"I suppose a voucher could work," Ben said finally. "And a kiss."

He was so smooth.

Tahiri rolled her eyes affectionately. "Saw that one coming, Skywalker."

Note, however, that she was still getting up on tiptoe ~~because she didn't have a random growth spurt and end up taller than him~~ to kiss him.

"That's because you were supposed to," Ben replied before his mouth was occupied with more important things to do than be a smartass.

Be less obvious next time, Tahiri sent, just because she didn't see a reason to let kissing stop her from being a smartass.

I'll work on it while you're gone, he promised, wrapping his hands around her waist.

Ben, you aren't going with her.

Ben? Tahiri sent, her Force-sense distinctly amused. We won't both fit in an X-Wing.

Which wasn't stopping her from putting her arms around his neck.

You're little. We'll fit.

Ben. Let go.

We won't be able to fly it, though.

Tahiri? You let go too.

It'll be an exercise in fine motor control, he wheedled.

Oh, Tahiri replied without thinking too much about what she was saying, I just bet it will.

And that was when Ben broke off the kiss due to excessive snickering.

"Oh, shut up," Tahiri told him, bright red and looking sheepish now. "Maybe if you get lucky --" and again she wasn't thinking about innuendo -- "I'll bring it back with me."

Innuendo went right out the window when they were talking about X-Wings. "It is so unfair that you have your own X-Wing," the extremely spoiled Skywalker pouted.

"Keep talking, Mister Shiny Red Speeder." Tahiri was starting to relinquish her hold on him, but really, really slowly. "It's not as if I would have one if they hadn't needed pilots that badly."

"True," Ben admitted, pulling back just as slowly, "but still. Closest I've gotten is flying the Headhunter Mom keeps with the Shadow."

"That Headhunter's in better shape than most XJs," Tahiri reminded him. "Bet a lot of people would love to fly it, and Hutts will ride thrantas before that happens."

Ben laughed. "Good point. Not a lot of people get onto that ship."
