Oceanography [Thursday, Week 11, Period Five]

Summer stood in the front of the room, fiddling with her laptop as the students settled in. She still couldn't believe Thanksgiving was around the corner.

"Hey guys," she smiled, leaning against the desk. "We'll keep the lecture somewhat short today." She was feeling festive, generous... given the holiday week was coming up.

"Plants are important to all ocean life. They are the basis of the food chain for just about all animals found in the ocean," Summer explained. "Many species of plants live and survive beneath the ocean's surface. I'm sure most of you have heard of seaweed and seagrass. Those are just two examples of plant species to thrive," she continued.

"Kelp is a type of seaweed that's brown and has a long, ruffled shape. It serves as a both a good food source and hiding place for small fish and crustaceans. Seaweed in general, is a good food source for marine life as well as humans."

Finishing the lecture, Summer passed out some handouts with extra information on it. "I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving, whether you're headed home or sticking around here."

[OOC: OCD coming on up.]
