Photography [Week Six]

It was a somewhat sheepish but smiling Veronica who was waiting for her students today. Once they had arrived, she spoke.

"Last week, I asked you all to take photos that portrayed sensuality in some way. We'll get those developed and displayed. But first, I want to talk to you about your final project. Next week is our last meeting and instead of giving you a theme, I want you to take photos that make you feel something. Anything. And we'll display them and discuss what emotions we think the photographer was trying to convey."

That taken care of, she let them loose in the dark room though she was working on developing her own photos from the weekend.

Bah. Five days off is nice. Coming back to work? Not so much.

Angela Montenegro

Missing a week of classes as a fuzzy little critter was more annoying than you'd think it might be, as it turned out.

Angela was left fiddling with some of her previous weeks photographs and considering what her final project could be.

At some point during the class, Angela found her way to Veronica and smiled a little apologetically.

"Hey, I'm sorry I wasn't here last week. I was all... not me," and she made an illustrative 'size of a breadbox' gesture with her hands, hoping it would convey her problem. "Wasn't great at getting myself to workshops."

Veronica glanced up as she hung a photo of her and Dick in front of the 'Eiffel Tower' up to dry.

"Bunny? Cat? Some other kind of fuzzy critter?"

"Other fuzzy creature," Angela answered after a moment. "I actually kind of don't know," she admitted. "But I'm going to look it up later. At the time it didn't matter, but not I'm curious."

Harry was around and available for chatting (about photos or otherwise).

"Fandom. Teaching you about cute fuzzy creatures through transformation," Veronica joked. "Don't worry about this week's assignment. Just focus on your final project."

"I can do that," Angela assured her. "Might even be able to combine the two." Maybe Hannibal would play model for her sometime...

Veronica nodded. Angela would get excellent grades if she showed up with shirtless Hannibal pictures.

"Works for me," she said.

"Okay, great." She could but try.

"... Who's the guy?" Angela asked curiously after a moment. She was nosy when it came to other people's relationships. Never mind this was her teacher here. That was a cute guy, nice photograph, and she always liked hearing about that sort of thing.

"Oh, that's my... uh... husband," Veronica said, tripping over the last word because, wow, still weird.

"Aww." Angela grinned and leaned a little closer to look at the photograph. "How long?" She sounded... unsure, about the whole thing, which was a little weird, but not enough to deter Angela from her line of questioning.

"Um."

Veronica had to stop and think of what day it was and then count backwards. "Five days?"

"... Oh, wow." She'd been expecting a little longer than that, it had to be said. "Congratulations."

"Thanks," Veronica said, giving a tiny smile. "It was... not exactly planned."

"Spur of the moment can be really exciting and all romantic," Angela offered.

Romantic was probably not a word anyone would use to describe Veronica and Dick's wedding. Exciting? Sure. "We got married by Elvis."

That should explain a lot, really.

It did explain a lot, yeah, and Angela's mouth made a little 'o' of understanding.

"Vegas?" It was just one of those things you automatically related to that city. It had a rep.

"Yup," Veronica said with a little shrug.

"So... is it a good thing or not?" she asked. Because there had been a little smile, but she seemed less than sure about it all.

"I think so," she said. "It's just... hard to get used to."

Angela nodded in understanding. "Oh, I know the feeling," she said. "But if you think it's a good thing that's great, and you will figured it out, you know, in time."

"Yeah," Veronica said. "It'll probably be easier once we're living in the same place."

"He someone you were dating before or..." Angela didn't judge, because hey, she'd done that second one already.

Veronica nodded. "Oh, yeah. For a given value of dating at least. It's complicated, but..."

"Always is," Angela finished with a knowing nod. "At least the guy you married was someone you knew, and were with like that, rather than... anything else, right?"

"Oh definitely," she agreed. "I would definitely not be this calm if I had married a stranger."

"Oh yeah," Angela said with feeling. "At least with mine he was someone I sort of knew. Complete stranger, really would've been even worse."

Veronica blinked. "Wait. What? You got married? Aren't you kind of young?"

Yes, Veronica, because twenty-two is so much better.

Better than seventeen? A little.

"We got it annulled." Because that made it all better. "And I was not in my best decision-making mind at the time." Read: drrrrunk!

"But yeah, kinda did."

Not like Veronica could cast stones on the drunk thing.

"Well, if you're not eighteen, annullment is good."

"Mm," she nodded. "And I think either his girlfriend, or my roommate would've killed him if we hadn't."

"Oh. Yeah, that definitely puts an interesting spin on things," Veronica said. "At least with me and Dick, we were pretty much together. Even though we were both denying that we were together."

Yes, they had Issues.

"Well, I guess this clarifies some things?" Angela suggested. Definitely together now, with some rings and a piece of paper to prove it.

Veronica nodded. "Yeah, little harder to deny it now."

Which didn't mean she may not try. Because Veronica's powers of denial and repression were amazing.

"I think accidental weddings are good for that..." Hers had been at least. "Positive things can come out of them."

"I wouldn't recommend them," she joked. "But, yeah, they have benefits."

"Well, no," Angela laughed. "Wouldn't do it again, but--" She shrugged. "It worked out."

"I hope yours does too."

Veronica gave her a genuine smile. "Thank you."

Leda

The cramps and nausea had started this morning, but Leda was feeling mostly okay now. Enough so that she just had to suppress the shakes as she developed her pictures.
