Finally! Friday! Fourth Period! Time for Rangering! Minsc was starting to feel like Friday would never come, although it would seem that not even teaching the same course again would inspire him to write a syllabus. It was summer! Syllabuses (syllabi?) were for losers and pansies, and rangers really had no need for a syllabus and, really, he rarely stuck to it anyway. Next week! he promised himself. Next week he would! Maybe.

Probably not.

But, for now, class! He had his students meet in the preserve, in a small clearing surrounded by trees, the same one from last semester's first class, with precisely the same agenda. You didn't tamper with a classic. He stood grinning at them eagerly, a hamster in one hand and his broad sword in the other.

"Good afternoon!" he greeted them, brusquely, brightly, in an accent that sounded fake-Scandinavian (?), fake-Russian (?), or...something. "Welcome to Rangering! I am your teacher, Minsc, and this is my giant miniature space hamster Boo! Hopefully, you are here because you are wanting to learn the ways of a ranger, such as myself! If not, then...stick around, and learn anyway! It never hurts to learn more about buttkicking! A ranger is a warrior of great buttkicking magnitude which specializations in weapons training and an accute sense of nature and animals! So we will be doing much of that!"

"Some of you knew that because you took this last session, and to you, I say, welcome back! May your ranger skills be honed and sharpened like the edge of a trustworthy sword! And the same for you new ones, too! A sharp sword is a good sword, even if you use it more to thwap than hack!"

"But, for today, let us get to know our fellow brethren and sisteren in buttkicking! I know some of you, but certainly not all of you, and all of you might no know each other! So let us introduce ourselves! I would like your name, where you are from, what weapons experience you have and also why you are interested in rangering, if you please!"

"I should direct you attention also to good Sir Arthur! We have the privilege of his assistance as a TA! And I will be scouting for a second to join this prestigious rank, so look sharp! Only the best for Minsc's TAs!"

"ENOUGH TALK!" The grin grew even wider and, with a sudden, great, powerful yell, Minsc drove his sword straight down into the ground with seemingly so much force that, suddenly, things dropped from the trees. They were practise dummies, hanging on strings, limply filled with straw and sawdust, with very evil looking faces drawn on them. You could tell they were evil, because they had great big, downward pointing menacing eyebrows and little evil-like beards.

"Because in rangering, the sword is often stronger than the word! I have, available for you right over there, a variety of weapons from my own personal aresenal. When we are done with introductions, pick up your favourite, and let's see what you've got. Have at these uncouth villians of badness, and show off your skills, so that I may have a better idea of what I am working with! And if you dispose of your enemy quickly, I will be very impressed, and there is more there that came from. Ah-ha! Let us now start! I am getting very excited to be smashing and slashing and fighting now!"

In your best rangering form!

Because Minsc will chatter so exuberantly as to make even a dull topic seem interesting, and hopefully avoid anyone noticing that this thread references an entirely different game all together.

Let us hear it! Who are you? Where are you from? What is your favourite weapon? And why are you in this class? Besides the fact, of course, that it's ,i>awesome.

Although "Because it is awesome" is a perfectly acceptable answer, too.

"Less talk!" Minsc declared once everyone had been through with their introductions. "More fight! To arms!"

With a great pump of his fist in the air, he hoped that all the students were as excited as he was and would rush to their weapons and their adversaries and have at them with great gusto! He wanted to see what they had to show!

The weapons are, of course, many and moddable.

Singular at the moment since the other shall be picked out in due course.

Minsc was looking very pleased and chuckling to himself. He loved this class.

There's a strange beast stalking around out house at night; several of them, as they were communicating last night. We don't know what they are, but they're freaky as all get out. I woke up in the middle of the night hearing their calls and winced at every single creepy one.

I'm putting my vote in that it's El Chupacabra, personally.

Arthur Pendragon

"I am Prince Arthur of Camelot," Arthur volunteered. His head still felt like someone rode a horse across it. "My favourite weapon is the sword, and I'm in this class because it's good fun."

He was fairly sure Sir Minsc would settle for that answer, and it required no use of bits that hurt a lot.

Yes, the singular TA was here, and looking... mildly cranky, but as cheerful as his head could manage it.

Arthur sort of... idly paced towards the target with his sword. It wasn't as much of a massacre as last time, but at least he could be counted on to make for a good show.

Fiona Post

...something about him really reminded her of her uncle Gilbert. It wasn't a bad reminder, considering he'd been really nice at the induction ceremony, but it did make her smile a little.

Fiona glanced around before speaking.

"Fiona Post," she offered, "from Del Sombre, California. Well, currently San Francisco. My favorite weapon is my yo-yo" and she held it up for people to see, "and I suppose I'm in this class because it sounded very interesting."

Minsc tended to be an astute observer probably at the most inopportune times. "Rough night, Sir Arthur?" he couldn't help asking in light of his intrepid TA's current disposition. "Or just a really good one and it's only the day after that's rough?"

"My night was fine," Arthur told him, wincing a little at the italics. "I've got some water, thank you for your concern."

Well, it was an answer that certainly Minsc couldn't hold issue with, at any rate.

Though the typical booming response probably wasn't going to help Arthur much.

"It is good fun!" he agreed happily. "Good to see you back again, Sir Arthur!"

"Glad to be back," Arthur said, trying not to wince too visibly, "Sir Minsc."

"And hopefully," Minsc responded happily, "it'll prove to be very interesting as well! Welcome, Lady Fiona! A yo-yo is quite a different weapon, even for me! I shall look forward to seeing it in action, m'lady!"

...okay, she liked this professor. Anyone who didn't laugh at the yo-yo was definitely appreciated.

"Certainly, professor."

The italics really couldn't be helped; it was practically a speech impediment.

"Well, then," said Minsc with a nod, "drink up, good sir, and take it easy, eh?"

Kenshin waved a little at Fiona; it was nice to have a friend around.

Fiona waved back with a little grin.

Having Himura in class would definitely help with things.
